 yellow 79 wabbit« »

little 79 diesel thumper i'm having some fun with
all original paint and interior, headliner, seats and carpet on par and terrific except for glitch in the drivers seat.
Added heckblende in the rear and a flash of reflective tape to keep the suburbans off my butt.
cabrio front with amber laminex added over inners.
Bought in july '08 for 1200 dollars, Seattle Area.
Added a 5 speed. Will eventually lower a bit.
I have mint bottlecaps to add
Crap steel wheels currently. What can I say? I like fun cars and all the women gush about how "cute" it is. What's not to like?

I know lots of people dont like bottlecaps but I dig em. They always look good on A2s. Could be interesting to see them on here

yes, blubayou, that was me. Lil' thumper got all new rubber hoses for coolant (there are a lot of hoses on that motor!)

and yes, you never can have too many lites (I'm getting older and my eyesight is fadin)

I added more pics at the beginning post. Lites on and details of heckblende.
Some will like it and others won't. I put lites behind it to make me more visible. Need to clean up the details of the install. Not really ready for public inspection. kinda ragtail, actually.
Really difficult to get a pic of the lit heckblende at nite, especially since the lites behind are not constant across. hmm. looks good on the street, too uneven for photos

I'll be slow to put the rims on. the tires are 90% left. And my 401 k is about 90% down.
My bank account is flat, but the tires are round, so patience on the rims, there.
Interior is mint, original carpet and headliner

Nice! Sharp little car, very clean. I was in town from NY visiting a friend for the week. He owns Pro-Ski Service (right at aurora and 90th, I think)

thanks for the feedback, both positive and negative.
Some of you wanted to see interior shots, so here they are.
Mint carpet (I use MacNeil Mats down on them)
Mint headliner.
Mint dash (I added a dashmat to cut glare and prevent items from sliding all over the slick surface.
Mint Blauplunkt cassette/radio.
To be honest with you, I'm going to slide in my kick ass Kenwood deck. I added a couple '84 Jetta door map pockets to increase storage area.
They come with a 5.25 speaker enclosures and I added some Boston Acoustic speakers. I hid a clean spec modern amp as well. [IMG][/IMG]

I got it in brown. I had to replace the carpet because a blown brake line or it would have been completely original and cherry...Just rolled over 60k!
