Cat Cams Chain Clearance Issue« »

Cat Cams Chain Clearance Issue

On some CAT cams, there is a machining defect that prevents the cam chain from seating fully in the cam gear teeth because the side plate of the cam chain hits the cam. If yours are affected, you may wish to have it fixed. So far the only effect seems to be some noise-many affected sets have been in service for years with no reported issues.

This problem affects all 101 series cast 1.8T cams with adjustable chain sprockets. It DOES NOT affect 101 series 1.8T cast cams with pressed/pinned cam sprockets.

It also affects 100 series billet 1.8T cams.

If you don’t recall which cams you purchased, you will need to remove the valve cover to tell if your cams are affected. If the cams have adjustable chain gears on the back, your cams are affected.

If you believe you own a set of the affected cams please e-mail bobqzzi@cox.net for further instructions.

Im sorry Issam... But This is yet another retarded blanket statement; you really need to grow up and get over yourself.. And if you find it impossible to "grow" a bit of maturity.. Maybe you should just climb aboard a commercial jet, light your underwear on fire, and call it a day

Thanks for this PSA Bob

Understeer is when you hit the wall with the front of the car and oversteer is when you hit the wall with the rear of the car.
Horsepower is how fast you hit the wall and torque is how far you take the wall with you.

when are these going to start being marked for easier installation?

Listen up, buddy, I've had both - I eat plain bagels with cream cheese all the time, and I know people who've brought me onion bagels to try. I've toasted them both. I've even had poppy seed bagels and bagels and lox with capers. I'll pit your onion bagel against my plain bagel with cream cheese any time anywhere, just meet me halfway.

So for the DIYers, 1mm needs to be turned down, and can do it with the sprockets still on the cams?

I had mine turned down to the same diameter as the outside ring. The machine shop did so with the gear still on, and I think that's probably smart (gives you a gauge of where to stop).
