 Mr. BlurryCam Picture - The 2011 Infiniti QX« »

2011 Infiniti QX

It looks like the new 2011 QX is ready.

Being built in Japan, based on the soon-to-be-announced 7th Gen JDM Nissan Safari.

Also known as the Nissan Patrol to the rest of the world, a competitor to the Toyota Land Cruiser.

Whoever is designing the new Infiniti's needs to be shot. They used to be my favorite Japanese cars based on aesthetics but now their as ugly and awkward as the Chinese knock-offs.

Fixed. Of course, beauty is in the eye of the beer glass holder, or something like that.

This new one already looks 10x better than the current QX. I'm glad they got rid of the stupid stepped roof. How the front looks will be a major deciding factor. Hopefully, the quality will be improved 10x as well since production will be moved to Japan.

Competing with this?

Forget the QX, I want a Q.

That is all.

It is good to see that Japanese and Germans aren't giving up on large, gas-guzzling SUVs. Hopefully this fact will challenge peoples' perception that only Detroit makes big SUVs.

Looks like a squared-off, utilitarian truck with sharp angles, with the styling cues of a brand whose current identity is organic, flowing, and swoopy grafted on after the fact.

Which is what it is.

I'll defend a challenging design that's implemented with conviction and which is intended to make a statement, like the current FX. I ****ing hate challenging design that's kludged together cheaply and lazily, like the Aztek and this.

I think the QX looks better than what we have now, which isn't really saying much. It could work if they just bring over the new QX and leave the Patrol in Japan OR, if the new QX is smaller than the current behemoth.

I would like to see that too, but I have not heard of any news of it coming over, except for the QX version. The Titan and Armada will probably stick to the same platforms.

Given the questionable future of the Armada/Titan (and their resounding failure), a tarted up Patrol is a vastly preferable option. Think of a Nissan Landcruiser compared to a second rate Nissan Suburban knockoff.

Given the ugliness of the new Acura-thing, this will look better in comparison..

Yes Martha, you can get your new 2010 Toyota 4Runner with a 4-cylinder. As long as it's 2WD. And as long as it's with an old 4-speed automatic.

The lower half looks like classic Infiniti design. All curvy and very nice. But its like they decided to chop their current SUV in half at the beltline, and follow completely different design principles for the upper half.

Terrible.

We've already seen the interior pretty much and now with the outside I have to say I think its competitive with the Escalade and a little more flashy than the LX and nothing is as ugly as the Navigator. The current QX IMO is the worst-looking Infiniti they have ever had, but has been a decent seller, especially considering the price. 12,000+ years, easily beating the V8 FX in terms of sales. So why I personally hate vehicles like it, Infiniti needs a seller so

The front is very nice, the rear less so. It will be a much better vehicle than the current one, since it will be based on the Patrol and built in Japan.

Okay, maybe I went a bit too far, but the current one just looks silly. I hate the roof-line and rear door handles. I know quality has improved, but at first it was horrid. The front reminds me of Frankenstein.

I really hate the new pulled at the corner grille designs Infiniti and Lexus are using. And don't even get me started on the nasty fender vents.

On a positive note, I really like the blacked out A Pillar.

Well to be fair in markets outside the US where the Patrol and Landcruisers are offered they have been offered in 4 and 6 cylinder diesels respectively, challenging that gas-guzzling image. I'm glad infiniti ia basing the QX on the Patrol, these things have never been about the looks and more about the capabilities. I like it.

Yeah, two blurry exterior photos with no technical information about the vehicle makes that obvious.

Like I said, somehow the current mess posted several months with 1200+ sales even when fuel was pricey. Don't know why, but it did it as such a thinly-veiled rebadge that even 90's GM would blush and with probably the worst $50k+ interior on the market. No reason to think a unique (for the USA,) much better-looking inside and out, and probably much more powerful AND fuel efficient vehicle couldn't catch up to Escalade numbers.

But of course if you meant competition in a figurative sense and not sales then I would agree

I believe its Petrol based so it will fight the GX, not the LX.

That said I think it looks better than BOTH in those two pics and I actually like how it looks outside of the tacky fender vent and the GT-R windshield.

To me its aggressive up front, the fit and finish seems great, the arches are not overdone, the windowline looks great.

So I like it
