And I'm still trying to figure out if I need suspension limiters when I install the H&R springs I've ordered which will drop the JSW 1.5 F and 1.4R... I will be installing 18 x 8 wheels -- still to be decided as me and my better half can't agree on my wanting Raderwerks MTEN85s in black. The compromise may be VMRs in gunmetal -- we'll see. I just got the windows tinted yesterday and that was a HUGE improvement on looks!

Any additional help is most appreciated.

First report: H&R springs and 18" tires and wheels on my '10 JSW TDI »« »

Sorry, no pics yet...the 18x8.5" VMR V710s and 225/40-18" tires were just installed last night. First off...the look is awesome! It totally transformed the look of my JSW...especially with it's rather bland looking (but practical) White Gold exterior color. The ride and tire noise are perfectly acceptable so far but I haven't done much to test it yet.

I went with H&Rs when Eibach wouldn't support installing their Pro-kits on my '10 model before their R&D people had tested the fitment themselves. The springs went on two days ago (thanks, ABD Racingwerks). It's amazing how much of a difference 1.5" can make but I hope they don't settle any more as I've experienced some minor rubbing when hitting sharp bumps in the road. I think it's the inner fender liner rather than the metal fender edge but I was hoping for no rubbing at all. I did not have any suspension limiters installed. Would that have made a difference?

This is a real snug fit...much tighter than I had anticipated...but I really love the VMR wheels so I hope it works out over time. Use caution if you are considering something similar.

I'll post pics and further updates soon.

put my 18" Huffs on the JSW with stock springs. No rubbing and handling is decent. no pics - winters are on right now.

With an 8.5" width, the wheel offset is critical. If you put the car on a lift and get the shop to let you look under the car with the tech, you should be able to see where you're making contact. If it's strictly on the inside (closest to the center of the car) you might be able to solve the problem with some spacers, if there's room on the outside edge of the wheel to accept moving the wheel/tire outboard (a few millimeters to a cm).

They do look awesome.

First, looks great! What tires did you get? Did you figure out if the rubbing is the inner fender? Got a work around for it?. Love the look. Make mine CW. You do have a 6 MT, yes? Ooops, read your sig and see that you have the dsg. (adjusted pics to thumbs, well tried to but was unsuccessful so back to original size)

I went with General Exclaim UHPs from Tire Rack because of the positive ride, noise and treadwear reviews. Oh, and they were only $95 each. I'll reserve the expensive performance rubber for my Lexus IS 350 - which (thankfully) it won't need as often now.

I made sure the contact wasn't between the outside of the tire and the fender edge but since it's so infrequent and minor I haven't tried to remedy the problem yet. Even under heavier loads the rubbing is rare. I'll be sure to investigate more closely soon.

BTW - My original order WAS for a 6 MT but I just couldn't face dealing with So Cal rush hour traffic so I wimped out and switched to the DSG...and I'm loving it!
