 TT Quattro BT DownPipe / Exhaust« »

Just wondering what is out there?

I am getting ready to start the AWD swap on my car, and i am starting to look into exhaust....

i currently run an ATP style setup, 3" TB......

my though is to either get an ATP style DP for a TTq....but i do not know if such a creature exists? i havent seen much around????

or...i was thinking of hacking up my existing DP, taking the 3" section, splitting it in to either 2 x 2.25" or 2 x 2.5" pipes that can then run back under the drive shaft, not robbing me of ground clearance...

in regard to the size of piping, the cross-sectional area:

3" exhaust is: ~9.82in^2
2 x 2.5" is:~7in^2
2 x 2.25" is: ~7.95in^2

the big unknown for me right now is the effect of the surface area in relation to the volumetric efficiency of the gasses passing thru one single pipe versus 2 pipes.....(sorry i failed mass balances as a chemical engineer..... )

any thoughts, input would be much appreciated!

You can put a 3" downpipe on a Quattro TT. The space is tight but is totally possible. You may want to install a urethane dogbone to limit the engine movement.

You will almost definitely need a custom DP for a TTq (sorry, the mkIV DOES NOT FIT)...Arnold makes one but it comes in his kit, PM him and ask. I run a 42DD 3" on my k04 225 and its definitely better than the OEM split one (though the cats are the major restriction)

FFE can make you one as I believe they have done this already and may possibly have it already jig'd.

i will hit him up and find out...., i think that it will need to be a split after looking under the car last night...i got it up on a lift.....

CTS Turbo makes a BT kit that comes with a DP specifically for the TT quattro. ATP does not have one available. Arnold as mentioned before said he has one available with his kit...besides that, custom is your other option. I went w/ a custom DP to mat up to my ATP mani and it was a B*tch to say the least but came out perfect...I went v-band for ease of getting it off should I switch turbos.

thanks man!

i am really leaning more towards a custom setup....i dont want half of a 3" pipe hanging down below my car....i think i can get 2 x 2.25 tucked up in there nicely.....

and yes, it will be v-band all the way! my DP is already v-band coming off the turbo...
