Clutch Foot? | « » 3:05 PM 11-3-2009 | |

Don't laugh seriously, but the muscles in my foot, when flexed (think of depressing your clutch or pointing your toes to the floor) are in severe pain. I can barely walk on my left foot or put any type of pressure on it. so to skip the obvious, no i did not hurt it, twist it, fall on it, land on it, play any sports or do anything to aggrevate it. so I am putting this question out there, much like tennis elbow and carpel tunnel syndrome, is there such a thing as "Clutch Foot"?

http://www.webmd.comI have had this a few times, but nothing persistant. Usually just after a long trip. Suppose everyone is different though.

id rather be an amputee than get a slushbox. i remember reading about some handicapped guy who hooked his manual car up to these gears and levers so he could drive it even though he was a parapalegic or something.

I sometimes get a cramp in my lower right leg from pressing the accelerator too hard. Actually it's probably because both cars I usually drive do not have cruise control and after a long trip on the highway it'll cramp up. Having raced motocross for over 10 years likely doesn't help this issue.

I get it more frequently in my gas leg than my clutch leg, but yeah. Cramping/straining happens. It sucks.

That may help but my left ankle was quite sore Saturday afternoon after putting about 130 city km on my car and I do play sports.

Try moving your whole leg when you depress the clutch or something, maybe start pushing the clutch with a different part of your foot?

I have had this problem but, I don't think the root cause was driving. I think it was caused by wearing too flexible of a shoe while mountain biking. I have aggravated it with heavy driving though. It has been bothering me since spring and I think I am going to go check it out now that I have health insurance again.

This would happen to me periodically as well...I'm sure it's obvious but try adjusting your seat? It helped in my case as weird as it seems....

i had big problems for a while, esp with my right foot. I found that if I consciously keep my foot straight (pointing forward) rather than let it naturally angle at like 15 or so degrees, my problems went away.
