My Dad swears by this engine. I had the 240 in my 1966 Econoline. Growing up he had a 1973 f100 with the 240, then replaced it with a 1994 with the 300. He still drives the 94' daily, and it has 200k on it. Runs like a top. Can't do over 90, but could easily pull the house down.

I'd say all of these engines should be known, if not for outright HP, then for anvil-like reliability, and for historic value: Small block Chevy V8 (from the original 265 to the 400) Ford Flathead V8 Chrysler Hemi (Old style 354, 331, 392, 426, etc.) Chrysler slant six Ford 240 and 300 sixes GM 250 and 292 sixes AMC 258 and 4.0 sixes Toyota 20R, 22R, and 22RE 4 cyl. Honda B18 series GM LS9 (680 hp WITH a warranty, and OEM refinement) Mitsubishi 4g63T VW air cooled flat 4
That's all I can think of at the moment. All of them are great engines for various reasons. Nick

It's a three cylinder - two stroke Kawasaki engine. Just imagine 3 big chain saw engines synchronized. Growing up my best friend had one (tweaked out) serious wicked fast and smelled so good! The thing was raw and exhilarating - the vibrations alone gave you a rush. Oil injected (Golden Spectrum) just poured out the expansion chambers as we flew through the roads of Silver Spring, MD. Many people have died riding these - we - are still alive.

I dont quite believe that. 170 mph and 7 sec quarter with 74 hp? A 200~ Hayabusa runs 10s. Hell, according to this: http://www.motorcycleclassics.....aspx Top speed: 120mph (period test) 0-60: 4.1 secs Sure you're not just drunk as hell?

Who cares how fast the H2 could go in the quarter mile? It wasn't known as the widowmaker for nothing! Sure, it was fast, but the frame, brakes and suspension were not up to the task. I'm sure that it felt way faster than it actually was.

Read up on the Subaru boxer engines. Yes, other manufacturers were messing with them way before Subaru, but they managed to implement it in a full line of vehicles spanning decades. And of course, the WRX/STI is equipped with one, and runs in a class of cars dominated by inline 4's.Another one if you are interested in the "how things work" side of things is the VR6, especially the 24 valve variants and their head/valvetrain design. And of course, a lot of what came out of Detroit pre-1973 is always a fun subject.

I thought the numbers were strange as well - here is the article I copied the data from. btw - somebody cares - one closed on Ebay last night at 7:49pm for US $6,557.57 - not bad for a 37 year old unrefined (which makes it feel fast) bike. http://www.khulsey.com/motorcy....html http://www.motorcyclespecs.co....2.htm http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors...51d39 Edit to add this rebuild! http://www.thunderroadbikes.co...2.htm

he's not talking about a stock one. hell the 74hp stocker didn't even have expansion chambers. just a set of chambers makes one of those motors completely ridiculous. the seven second one had to have been in a full drag chassis and built to the hilt. I'd hit it fo sho.
