Cleaned up the car and my brakes are red!« »

Took the day off as I need to burn some time before years end and as any self respecting car enthusiast would do when they have lots of time with nothing to do, I washed the car.

The corrado hasn't seen as coat of wax in two years and after a few off road excursions at the last to track days, the paint was looking shabby. I discovered the wonders of clay barring. It's amazing how easily grime of all sorts is just absorbed into the clay with almost no effort!

So I finished the car:

And then when I parked the car to go inside and relax, I find the following:

These were once black, like the passenger side! I should probably consider losing some weight.

"Cool story, bro" is gonna ruin this place because it's pretty much applicable to any thread that isn't "Help me buy a car," a Wimblebot press release or any cop bashing thread.

And oh, I'm gonna "cool story, bro" myself.

Agreed. I think it looks great, the wheels really compliment the Corrado.

Thanks for the compliments on the car, those wheels are my track wheels/tires. I have a set of JLine's that are my street wheels. It needs a little bit of body work that I hope to get done over the winter.

I have never seen anodizing "fade" to a different color. I didn't think it was possible.

I would put my money on whatever wheel cleaner you use reacting with the anodization itself. Most wheel cleaners are acidic.

it fades. i have an autotech aluminum adj. cam gear that is half black half red anodized, and the black is slowly turning redish (not nearly to the extent of his caliper though) and the red is just getting desaturated.
