does having a an exhaust give away a sleeper?« »

i really want an exhaust but it's soo much fun when i race someone (at the track of course) and they are like when they get roasted. i mean just hearing an exhaust you're thinking 'ok, someone is ready to go', but on the other hand most times when i hear an exhaust it's on a honda or civic and that's all they have except the occasional intake/exhaust combo, so i don't really worry about that. i guess that is also the case for vw's, most of em only have an exhaust/drop/intake, except for the freaks on here you can add a chip to that list and much more in a lot of cases. what i'm getting at is should i keep my exhaust stock or upgrade to an aftermarket probably a milltek? it's just a matter of personal preference i guess

You could do the TDI Mid pipe and leave everything else stock.

Looks stock to most people, doesn't sound stock when I take off

Get a Milltek DP and CB... Noticeable performance gains... Most people have no clue that I even have an aftermarket exhaust... it fits nice under the cut-out valence and looks like it came like that... I got an APR DP, but I THINK the Milltek DP allow the Milltek CB exhuast tip to sit higher

Get an exhuast~ no matter what it ends up being~ Good luck!

He has a 2002, so depending on when his was produced he may have the stock 4MO valance.

will it really matter if they hear an exhaust? civics have a loud exhaust, and don't do squat. its all under the hood that makes a car a sleeper.

Personally, hidden is a look that I really like....I like the uncut rear valence...my plan this month is to go with a Milltek and keep it hidden with no exposed tips in the rear.....keeping my stock rear uncut valence....

very true but most the civic exhausts don't really give you a nice power bump, and by exhaust i meant cat back not just a muffler, in case that's what you understood

it pretty much does sound stock. when accelerating there isn't any drone.

I'll also recommend this system. Looks like a slightly beefier version of the stock exhaust, doesn't scream 'aftermarket'. You're average duder wouldn't notice. Slightly more agressive tone, but subtle, very nice. Like others said, drone isn't a problem.

Personally, I would go with a nice exhaust with exposed tips. 2002.5 and newer did have the psuedo-4motion valence. Why sacrifice looks?

Come on, if you really need to be a sleeper just take the 1.8T off for the 2.Slow look or add the TDI for real excitement.
More people try to race me when I drive my gf's slower Eclipse GS than when I drive my Jetta anyways cause they think it's faster.

BLOL (belly laughing out loud) @ the 2slow or TDI. i would so love to do that but i like my girls bare cheeked

i would consider your car a sleeper because there really isn't that much outside body work done to it. only thing performance i can tell is your exhaust, and cosmetic-wise your tints, antena, and hella smoked.......

another question for you all 'what is your definition of a sleeper?'

my definition is little to no exterior work (smoked tails,e-codes/joey mod, debadging, and suspension is ok) and mods under the hood/exhaust

You can call me crazy but you could do a Revo or 20VT side dump? That is pretty "hidden". I know it probably sounds ludacris since I know you all just hate Kyle from 20VT. But I think some of his products look aight - I think its just another person trying to help the tuning world. Cheers.

I don't know... even to a non-dubber, that definitly looks modified. To what extent? It's unknown, but theres certainly a tuner/enthusiast behind that wheel.

I think of sleepers being fairly undistinguishable from stock. Something my mom would drive.

i dont think so..unless it's some huge fart cannon. this is why i like my TT. it's just a sewer pipe. looks like a generic replacement or something. that and the rear sway are the only things you can see.

All cars are sleeper if the drivers don't know how to drive it to its full potential. That is a true sleeper, coz it will never wake up.
