While it might be easy to discern a broken dual mass flywheel, you canít really judge the friction surface until itís apart. Discoloration, hot spots or scoring, for me, mean itís done. The longer...
    2. Chain/tensioner issue/engine failure 2011 GTI

I recently bought a MK6 GTI that had suffered this fate. I rebuilt the engine using various parts suppliers. I am a mechanic, and own my shop, so no accounting for labor etc.

      Pay attention to the...

OP meant the Type R, not Golf R, has boy racer looks. +1 on the Macan. Much taller, nearly a ďslide over from standingĒ vs sitting down. Brilliant motor and outstanding chassis. As big as a Macan is...
    4. HELP! CIL on for Cylinder 1 and 4 Misfire after carbon cleanout

The Bosch ME17 ECU in the MK6 is quite sophisticated, variants of it are still being used today. The exact position of the crankshaft in its rotation is correlated to combustion events with precision...

Your rear main seal has nothing to do with this issue. I suspect that during the intake valve cleaning service there was a reassembly error.

Iíd say so. Itís a salvage title from a ďcollisionĒ. It appears a fender, lights, grill and rad support were done. Pity about the ďplastidipĒ paint, itís dark grey metallic underneath that. Itís...

Installed it all back in the car, along with a new DSG flywheel (only 68k on the original, but it was shot). I couldnít find anything but a real DSG FW, that set me back $450. Ran it all in and...

I decided, what the h*ll, lets make this an experiment, and used nothing but eBay sourced parts for the entire engine. Every single shipment appeared to be OE parts with the logos ground off.

      A cheap MK6 GTI story [emoji592]

Iím a rabid craigslist lurker, searching for VW/Porsche cars in distress for projects. About 3 months ago I ran across a 2012 GTI 4 door DSG that ďneeded an engineĒ. I picked it up for $3k, running,...

A throw out bearing will not cause this issue. Itís entirely out of the equation with the pedal up. With the pedal depressed, a bad TOB would grind/growl, but still not plausible for...

The performance monitor is in absolute pressure, not gauge pressure.

Iím 52, and donít care much for loud exhausts either. That said, my Ď17 was incredibly quiet as delivered. Do the Ď19s have a resonator or did VW drop that (Audi S3)?

Does a mk7 plastic oil pan fit?

Interesting observation [emoji848] Ive got a MK6 GTI and MK7R, time to have a side by side look.

Agreed the plastic pan drain is clever and quick. I just feel steel on steel threads is more...

Does a mk7 plastic oil pan fit?

Same block- and as you noticed, the MK7 ďmodĒ is a backdate, so, yessir, it fits. Not sure why youíd want a plastic pan however. Itís weak and the drain plug is bullsh*t.
