Thread: Corrado TDI

1. 11-11-2003 01:59 AM #1
this is my corrado tdi :
engine : afn, now > 200 hp and 400 nm
gearbox : 6 speed with 240mm sachs race-clutch
exhaust : 2,5 inch without kat
intercooler : rally-golf g60 (my sprinter-intercooler was blown at 1.4bar)
suspension : kw-systems, full adjustable
wheels : oz polaris, 16"
engine modifications :
modified vnt17-turbo with 1.6bar boost, .230 nozzles, 12mm pump, different intake manifold, modified camshaft, removed egr, removed kat, exactly suited chiptuning from digital-racing.de (4 stages switchable !!), bmc airfilter, 60mm intercooler-pipes, m3-mirrors, audi door-opener (?), audi s2-breaks, etc. etc.
next week i┤ll install a water/methanol-injection.

Also could you post more photo's of the front? Engine bay? Interior? etc...?
What is it like driving a Corrado with a TDI? You have tuned the diesel out so does it perform any different then the engine you had? I didnt catch which series this C was before the TDI swap.

7. 11-12-2003 04:35 AM #5
the corrado was a g60 before engine conversation.
actually i don┬┤t have other photos, but i can make some in the next days.
the power is so incredible that i will never drive a other engine. my tires scratching in the 4th gear on dry street (on wet street in 5th gear too). in 6th gear i need from 160 to 170 km/h only 2 seconds ...
i don┬┤t have a actual price for the modifications, but i will try to calculate it.

8. 11-12-2003 05:18 AM #6
more info.... does it smoke much? what kinda of fuel mileage are you getting? many people have been interested in this swap. so expect alot of questions.
awesome car.

9. 11-12-2003 05:26 AM #7
the smoke was very less. before i upgrade to 12mm-pump it smokes like a old train.
after conversation to 12mm-pump i have much more power and less smoke. i would say, that it doesn┬┤t smoke more than a "normal" chipped tdi. in the rear-mirror i can┬┤t see any smoke behind me, but following cars noticed a bit smoke.
i need about 6-6,5 liter (biodiesel !!) / 100km.

think you could shrink those pics down so that i could actually see them, thanks!

Amazing TDI, stefan.
Since you know how much power it makes (200hp/400nm), I assume you've dynoed the car.. please post a dyno chart here so we can see the sexy power curves w/ your VNT-17!
You should show your car at tdiclub.com if you haven't done so already.

I have a few questions if you don't mind (if you feel overwhelmed, just ignore this post ):

exhaust : 2,5 inch without kat

Custom exhaust?
Quote, originally posted by vip2710 »
modified vnt17-turbo with 1.6bar boost,

That turbo is from a PD 150 motor I assume. What modifications were made to it?
Quote, originally posted by vip2710 »
.230 nozzles

Bosch? Sprint? Bosio PowerPlus?
Quote, originally posted by vip2710 »
12mm pump

Where can that be bought?
Quote, originally posted by vip2710 »
different intake manifold, modified camshaft,

Custom intake? What are the camshaft modifications for?
Quote, originally posted by vip2710 »
removed egr

Did you just plug up the EGR routing pipe like this?

next week i┤ll install a water/methanol-injection.

That is too cool, post your results here!! And I'm sure most of us would like to see your engine pictures.

13. 11-14-2003 01:36 AM #11
my exhaust was from "g-power" (stainless steel)
the turbo has a widen housing and was gap optimized
the pumphead comes from a iveco-truck
the intake manifold : there are two different possible, one gains more low-end power, the other more in higher rpm. i use a self-made race-pipe similar to the shown on the picture.
i┬┤ve lend my digital-camera over the weekend. on monday i make some pictures from the engine and post them.

14. 11-14-2003 03:18 AM #12
That's more modification than I planned to.
Sounds great!

The car is on TDICLUB.com. He posted it in the photo gallery section. if you notice his license plate frame says digital-racing.de that is Rocketchip in the USA.
I would love to see that car in person when I am in Hamburg visiting relatives.

Ah, I just noticed the Corrado in the gallery section of tdiclub.com
Really? I thought [email protected] is a sole enterpreuner(sp) w/o any direct affliations with other chip tuners. I've also read a couple times that he was previously an employee at a major chip tuning company, I don't know if this is true.

Yes, I found that out when I was getting chipped. That he was with another tuner.
I don't think you would call Jeff a "Dealer or Reseller". affiliated yes. Just compare the performance charts on both sites. it's the same.
Anyhoot, Jeff is a great programmer, tuner regardless

How do you convert newton/meters to foot/pounds? What would 400 nm be?

Cmon. Don't you know Jeff simply copied Upsolute's programming
Or wait...was it SpeedTuning USA...yeah, that was it. He just copied everyone's programs.
Stefan really doesn't exist
