Thread: Auburn CR20RX - BMX Bike - Selling, whats it worth?

    1. 08-25-2005 06:59 PM #1
Hey, what do the auburn CR20RX's run these days? Im thinking about selling it, and I know they are kind of vintage and novelty, and was wontering what a 93 or so one would run (dont know the exact year). Its the purple and silver frame with the cro-mo front and alloy rear. Putbull brakes, and whippet sproket and everything. I think it was the top of the line bike back in the day. Still in good shape and everything. Anyone know what a good asking price is. I didnt want to ebay it but I may have to do that anyhow.

I'll give you a dollar. I used have that frame in the pinkish purple color i remember I cut a dice in half and used it for the slider in the Pitbull brakes.
Seriously You could probably get like $250- $300 for it on ebay

Ok, I have to go home, and take some pics of it, but can I upload them straight here, or, do I have to link it from some other website?

wow! thats the style of auburn i been wanting! how much are you wanting to sell it for?

    11. 08-28-2005 05:46 AM #9
Well, to be honest, I dont know what its worth. I was going to sell it for $300 to someone, and I took it into my local bike shop to see if that was a fair asking price, and a couple of the guys went wild over it saying it was the bike they always wanted, and a collector's item and all of that. His advice was to put it on ebay for 300, and it would probably get more then that, but to be honest I dont really want to deal with that. Plus, I was searching online, and I saw some of your posts in an earlier thread about this bike, and you seem like you would appreciate it. I didnt want to give it to some kid who woudnt know what it was, and was just going to get another one stolen by a theif who was even more retarded. The bad thing, which isnt really a bid deal, is the front wheel is bent, and missing a single spoke. But, there are no kinks or anything so the bike shop said that it would be super easy to fix. The pitbull brakes are also not super smooth right now, but nothing a little grease wont fix. I think it have the original bars in my garage too, so I'll throw those in when I do sell it, but I have to look first. So I guess, What do you think about $375 shipped with the original bars, and $350 shipped without. I can put this on ebay too as a buy it now, and we can set up a time so you can nab it since I am always a little weary of buying things off of message boards, and I dont want you to be nervous if you were interested. But yeah, tell me what you think.

Forgot to say that the bars are the chrome square tubed ones, and also that my account name on ebay is odinie, and you can check my feedback. I dont have a ton (like 11 I think) but its 100%, so thats good.

i will need a couple days to convince my girlfriend i need another bike.
she thinks the 10 or so i have now is too many bmx bikes
in the meantime i have a couple of q's for ya.
whats the crank arm measurement? 180mm?175mm?
what are the serial numbers? there should be 2 different serials for each half of the bike frame.
the serial numbers will tell me what year of auburn it is.
i hate to ask this, but whats the lowest you can go on the price?
the cheaper i can get it for, the less my girlfriend will yell at me

    14. 08-28-2005 12:26 PM #12
Holy jeez. 10 bmx bikes! Wow, um, you are a serious conosseiur (if I even spelled that right). The cranks are 180s (I seem to remember, but I'll check), and I checked the serials and its a 93. But, I will jot them down on a peice of paper for you, and post them in a second. Frick, ok I dont know how much shipping is going to be, my mom has a ups account through her business, so I can check. How about $350, and if shipping is less than like 25 bucks or something when I can check on monday, then Ill drop it even lower. I just want to cover the shipping enough you know? In the meantime I'll get the serials for you.

    15. 08-28-2005 12:39 PM #13
ok, I could only find a serial number for the back half of the frame, and that is 11934675. I looked all over for the front one, but no dice. If you have any ideas, then I can look again. The cranks have a 180 stamped on the inside, and yeah, hope that helps

You do seem like apretty cool guy so I dont mind holding on to it. I'll keep her in good hands for you, and in the meantime I'll see if I can dig up those handlebars.

I had one of those in the bright blue color.
Gave it to my brother (stupid!), of course it ended up getting stolen.
Not nostalgic enough to drop a few hundred, but good luck! Awesome bike.
