Well first off, hello to those who frequent the Cabby forums, some may know me from a few years ago when I was a more active poster. Ever since I got into college my priorities did a complete 180 for the better. The Cabby became the secondary means of transportation, the Ghetta II being my daily for quite some time.
With the problems the chassis has had recently I have just decided, since I barely drive it as it is, that I will cancel insurance and take it off the road until I feel the chassis is ready to drive again.
So plans are, for the most part, a GRADUAL body off resto (well as close as you can get to a body-off on a MKI) on the car. Everything is going to be fixed and renewed on the car, I am not going cheap on anything this time. I would like to undercoat the entire underbody and get the body ready for paint.
Basic body plans:
Shaved goods, modified fenders, etc
Maroon or burnt orange paint of the entire body, inside and out.
Finish it up with some buckets up front and and completely finish the rear where seats should be, but will never be again.
Decent sound system, just get some filler for long distance travels (if that ever happens again).
Black cloth top.
Motor (this will break the bank for sure):
Completely built 2.0L 16v
Integrated Lysohlm from BBM with incredibly small pulley
MS2.2 with Knocksense and a Watermist system
Shaved engine bay (all the little things that aren't necessary)
Hide every wire possible and make it as clean as possible
G60 tranny, cable conversion, etc
Brace the underbody as much as possible
G60 front brakes, recon the rear disks
Keep my KW coils (still love them)
A nice set of 15" rollers
This will be a very expensive and SLOW rebuild, no plans to even get it close to rolling again until atleast college is over (2+ years). I just want to get it done right and done perfect.
I hope to have more fun doing this project then I would ever have driving this car as it is now.
I will check in from time to time, but continue to lurk as I have for the past year until my priorities can change once again.
BTW, thanks to anyone who has helped me in these past years, most especially George (Black Cabbie) and thanks for being such a great community.
