I love my MKV R32. It needs another 50 hp (MINIMUM!) and I can't question that. But for the money it's extremely well equipped, it handles like a dream, and it's still pretty quick.

I wish Santa would bring me an FT450.

Man, I wish the US-market GTI was available in that blue. It looks great on the R32, but I'm not about to spend that much on any car, or buy a 2-door.

I think the R just needs some better photographers taking pics of it...
I don't find my VWs to be all that purdy, but I've gotten some compliments from the pics of my GTI. And if I do decide to pull the trigger on an R32, you can bet it will get the same photographic love....
(yes, these are NOT R32s)

but I'd love to have this car...

I haven't driven the mkv version. But, the mkiv r32 is THE most confidence-inspiring car I have driven on the 3/4 mile test track at the auto mall I work at.
I've had the opportunity to flog everything from gtos to evos to c6 vettes on that tight loop... and theres nothing more fun than the R.

If you include the new Mk5 in this thread...be prepared for 500 responses of:
1) it does 0-60 wayyyy tooo slow
2) DSG is huge mistake; this car should only have a manual
3) Why not 280-300 hp?
4) I could buy an EVO for the same price
That should cover it! And yes...there's a whole forum dedicated to them...
With the EVO X prices, not anymore you can...

it's a great car, IF you're under 25. This is the car that ppl respected more in highschool versus "that guy" with the Mustang.
Btw, i think everyone should own a Mustang V8 atleast for a month sometime in their lifetime.. just because..

Live in the south central US... Every third car in the parking lot is a Mustang. Most are V6s, but VWs aren't well respected in "these parts."

ive driven R32's a few times, one for about 6 hours. I LOVE the car, the 4 motion is great, i would say it needs about 35 extra HP. I think its a perfect sports car though. For 85% percent of people out there its just enough power for them to feel fast and not hit a pole.
For me..id like another 35 hp...gorgeous car tho

good way of putting it.
ive noticed that this car is deceptively fast. you accelerate much faster than you think you are.

Got to love it for daily driving and storming up the passes during the season. It'll be a long time before I move onto something different.

Damn, can't make it smaller. Sorry fellas.
