Rust! without thousands of dollars of body work that car is going to look like hell in a few years. interesting swap, nonetheless. It's probably way faster than a 2002 Turbo or Tii.

I don't normally frown upon interesting swaps but it really looks like they ruined the car...the front end looks awful at least.

by the looks of the gigantic external wastegate, I get a feeling that it's a very very fast car.

They're going to anger the Audi gods by placing the engine that far back in the engine bay

The engine placement is actually tearing a rift in the time/space continuim(sp?)
rumor has it someone put a 1.8T in an E30 M3 and it created a black hole.
      2002 guy better be careful

Probably? That's like saying Chuck Norris probably has the strongest roundhouse kick in the universe. You're either new or you forgot that the mighty 1.8t nevar evar loses.......

Amazing! I also appreciate the Cooper S wheels...but they forgot to mount some up for the back, apparently.

I'd assume that this would basically be using a RWD-converted A4 drivetrain... ?

      what turbo?
also... the rust has been gnawing at me all day.

    24. 09-10-2008 11:03 PM #23
A little bit about the car: Turbo, Garrett T3 60-1 with .48 turbine, after market Wolf Engine Management System, 42lbs injectors. Engine & transmission mated with aluminum flange, transmission BMW 320i, light weight Fidanza flywheel, BMW 228mm clutch disc, VW pressure plate, Mustang 5.0 throttle body. front mounted intercooler. The nose (exterior) of car is uncut, the front lower lip is from a Mini Cooper, with a little fibre glas. The harness/wiring of the Engine and WOLF matches up perfectly with original BMW wiring, didnot cut not 1 piece of the BMW wire. The rust is all gone now, also the car was brown prior to this color

I know it's been a while since there has been any discussion on this but I was wondering if I could get some more details, or if you have a write up on another site. Specifically I'd like to know how you did the transmission mating, the engine management software, subframe modifications(oil pan?) besides different engine mounts, brakes?, steering?
On my car I removed the booster and mounted a 5 series master cylinder to the back of the pedal box. I'm going to swap rack and pinion steering from a 3 series into it also.
Nice looking 2002. I'd love to see a more in depth write up of the process. Do you ever visit http://www.bmw2002faq.com/ ?
