On my rally cars I always go for very good struts, they are more important then almost any other part on the car and when a strut blows or bends, well that makes for a unfun weekend on the stages.
The cheapest good option that I know off is inverted 40MM bilstines that companies such as http://parts.allwheelsdriven.n..._id=2, Sehlom Tuning and JVAB 206-431-9696 build.

Hi Derek, thanks for the plug!
I would like to point out that there is approx $800 difference in price between AllWheels Driven's 40mm Inverted Bilsteins and JVAB's 40mm Inverted Bilsteins.

In All Wheels Driven's defense, he did point out on Dirty Impreza that his strut ears are TiG welded on, which is of a course time consuming way to do the exact same thing as Mig that I use, and additionally he pointed out that the bottom of his struts are POWDER COATED, while my struts are merely painted.
That is surely enough to justify an additional more than $800 or $900.

In my on defense from day 1 in 2003 I make all my bottom tubes from Rally Quality 4130 Chrome-Moly tubing for strength.

I cannot say what the others use, but what the hell, man, they're POWDER COATED, man!
