Sold the Honda VTX on Saturday. 42 years of owning a Honda Motorcycle has come to an end. I shed a tear inside as the new owner rolled out of my driveway.
Now I have room in the garage to actually work on various non bike related projects.

Broke the Stay at Home order and took the BMW for the first ride of the year.

How crazy is Michigan with locking things down. I ordered a tire for my Speed Triple a couple Saturdays ago and it's supposed to be shipping from Michigan, but it's just sort of sitting up there.

Sportbike Track Gear? It's like one mile from my house. When I had motorcycles, it was nice being able to pick my items up directly from their warehouse.

We are still getting UPS/USPS/FedEx/Amazon shipments, not sure why it would be sitting anywhere...

That's on the other side of the state, don't know of them. I will say STG often has good deals on tires and great customer service, just a FYI. Good luck getting your tire

I don't have anyplace to put the tire on right now anyway down here until they start reopening stuff, and I tore myself up a little falling off a dirtbike last weekend so I couldn't really ride it anyway. It's the principle of the thing though, you order something you expect to get it, especially when they tell you the item shipped more than a week ago it doesn't make much sense to have it not move once it's at the shipper. I've still got a new front tire sitting here in the floor for the Triumph too.

Hurray, I got a tire. Now I need to get it installed. Thinking maybe being a single sided swing arm I can use tire equipment to change it myself but have never tried it.

      Took it on a picnic.

I have group I ride with often. Four couples. Two of the wives don't like to ride long distances, so it's rare that we get all eight on the bikes. Saturday, we did.

There's always a destination, and lunch is usually what we target for an outing. With the lock down, that's not an option.

I found an open park with picnic tables/public bathrooms in a neighboring county on the Potomac and planned a lazy, rural route to get there. Told everyone to pack a blanket and a picnic, and be ready to roll by 11am.

Plan was to get down there around 1pm, sit at an appropriate distance on separate picnic tables, and we'd be home by 3pm ish.

I sent out the route/times Friday morning, and immediately afterwards, I saw the flight plan for the Thunderbirds/Blue Angels flyover. I sent another note that said something like. "Hey, as a bonus... sometime around noon, we can look to the north and maybe see some airplanes." with a highlighted overlay of our route (below).

I was hoping to catch a glimpse, or hear them, but it wasn't a priority. We would be on back roads lined with trees, so it was unlikely.

We lucked out, the only clearing we rode through was the EXACT time the formations flew over us.

With all MSF bike classes cancelled through July I'm going to start hunting for a private instructor, maybe I'll get lucky and find one that provides certification so I can just get the endorsement from the DMV. Since I'm still stuck I decided to start up the Monster yesterday, I let it come up to temp, gave it some revs, and let it idle for another minute before shutting it off.

      Soon little Ducati, soon...

One of those fun things you don't really think about through all the virus gunk is all the training courses like that having been canceled. Coincidentally one of the guys on my Facebook list took the class this weekend too. I was happy enough Friday to have finally been able to properly register my Triumph but at least with the way they structured things I could still ride it.

Ignored our State Stay at Home Order and did a 5.5 hour ride over to the western part of the state.
Had to watch my speed..... Michigan State Police were issuing tickets again, saw 6-7 people getting tickets.

I'm checking the sign-up website every day and will get the title/plates as soon as possible, I started the title by mail but need to actually talk to someone about which forms I need. I didn't go for a class last year because of getting the bike later in the season and still needing gear and stuff, but damn I could have been riding on and off for a good month or two by now. Since classes are toast through the end of July I'm just waiting out the state, even with the south/center/west opening soon anything near Chicago is going to drag and then be crazy once it does open.

I actually rode it... Think I hadn't been on a bike for 3 months or so... Stupid COVID.

      Last year: Mar 10 - Aug 1 3600 miles
      This year: Mar 10 - Aug 1 600 miles

I do most of my miles commuting, so working from home has eliminated most of them. Road trips have been kinda cancelled too, so there you have it. 2020 sucks.
