Some of you have been waiting patiently for this and here is the beginning for the S2 reproduction rain tray thread. I need some information about the S2 trays (since I only currently S1 car) and what differences they have. Currently I have a tray here which I was told is an S2 8v tray (pictured below) so it's assumed that there was a 16v tray as well. Can anyone confirm or supply a picture? Another assumption is that either tray will fit any S2 car. Chime in with which is better or details about each and we will work it out the details and make it happen!

I have a mostly intact 16v tray in my garage, I'll take a look when i get home.

99% positive there is only 1 tray for the S2 Scirocco. I've had several from both types and never noticed a difference.

Good looking out on these. Can't wait to order one.

I just pulled out my NOS rabbit rain tray and compared it to the tray these guys made for the MK1 Scirocco. The OEM part is rather limp compared to what these guys created.

Mine has a raised portion toward the left (on the car) end that I don't see in your pic. It doesn't seem to accomodate anything under the hood though. Maybe it served a purpose on an earlier model? This is off an '87 16v w/ AC.

Is the hump over the ECU the same?

Only one tray for S2s. The one you have is from my 85 8V, but the one I'm currently using is from the 16V in the garage. They are identical.

Edit: It would be cool if they were made smooth like the S1 trays. No grooves and no part number.
      Now get to work.

If you want to do more test fitting and double check stuff, both the 16V and 8V are at the house.

Let me know what they would cost including shipping to The Netherlands (perhaps more than 1 at a time).

The raised portion comes with clear film so you can see the "VIN" numder without removing the tray...

I was referring to the raised part on the right in the pics, on what would be the left side of the car. The 1"x5" flat topped bump that you can see in my pic but not in the OP's. Have any idea what that's for?

Wouldn't that be for the single wiper motor bracket? (82-83)

I have the single wiper setup in my 85 and everything clears just fine. The original poster of the one with the extra hump said that it is off an 87 16V. That hump is far enough over that it looks like it may be for the knock box. I'll have to look at my 16V when I get home tonight.

Smoothing them out would just be molding them without all the little ridges. It is my understanding that the overall dimensions, including the ECU hump would be the same as the original. It would probably also reduce the plotting and machining time for the mold (less money).

      I can't believe nobody's running CIS anymore.

Just to reiterate. That is not the hump Codeman and everyone else is talking about. Look at post 16 again. He is refering to the raised, flat, smooth, rectangular hump that is tangent to the edge that clips to the cowl at the base of the windshield.

      Can anyone verify fredybender's hypothesis?

      J. Daniel, do you have a link to the mk1 raintray thread? I can't find it with the search.

Additionally, for reference, the tray I have in the single wiper car is a humpless version.

      OK, I'm a dope!

A search through ETKA lists 533 819 411 as the MK II raintray for all models, 8V or 16V, 82 through 88.
And strangely 533 819 415, the number shown in one of the photos above, doesn't show up in any search through ETKA, USA or Germany market!!
