Provided I like the Note when it arrives

I'd had experience using gcam on a OnePlus phone. Having owned a few Pixel devices I've come to accept I'll never be camera satisfied with other brands.

Don't mind a big phone since I don't really put them in my pockets often. I have an arm band for running and use a sling pouch to carry wallet, keys, etc. Funny that fanny backs are coming back into style at the same time phones keep growing in size.

IMO samsung phones don't need GCAM.

While not quite on par with the Pixel, they have been quietly making huge improvements year over year, and the gap has closed considerably.

When combined with the awesome ultra wide that you cannot get on pixel, and the much better optical zoom I would argue that the Samsung Note 20+ is the phone to beat for best camera you can buy.

They did make a big change in processing this year though, going for a more natural look. I actually prefer The cartoonishly punchy colors of their old algorithm, so I am sticking with the note 10+.

Few random photos of my muse from the past few weeks. Taking a picture of a black dog is one of the hardest tests of a cameras dynamic range, and I think the note 10+ kills it.

^ Definitely will be using stock camera for awhile. Video reviews of the camera/video seem good save the super aggressive face smoothing.

I've been reading an upcoming OS update will introduce the option to turn off 'beauty mode' so that's a plus.

The dryer's timer is barely working, this should make it work for several more years. For $ 60 I give it a try.

There's a couple of reasons for the screen size thing. Many of us are getting older, and tiny print on tiny screens are a PITA. Second:

We finally got around to ordering me a new desk for my office.

Also a new gaming headset because apparently my current pair is leaking audio back into the mic causing echo for everyone but me.

I have thus far avoided to Zoom hell that everyone else has endured, but it is going to be my time in the barrel coming up soon.

If my ugly mug is going to be on camera it will at least be well lit with HD quality.

This is a pretty similar setup to a coworker, and combined with a well curated background she really stands out, vs the absolute trash built in laptop cameras, and tinny clipping internal microphones.

Probably stick to the A7rii for one on one meetings, and the Go Pro Hero 7 Black for the bigger meetings.

I can set it so wide that you can't see that I am not paying attention.

      DAMN. that's too much work.

i've only had to do one zoom meeting so far. all i had was natural light through the window and very spread out overhead lighting. i had some bluetooth in-ears for both hearing and speaking. my crappy built in webcam surprisingly does a really great job at setting the AWB and exposure. i was also curious about using the A73 for the camera...but my face isn't worth the time.

I am going to have to be on zoom/web ex a few hours a day while I am out recovering from surgery. All of this stuff was under $100. I have the camera gear already.

Did a test run with the Go Pro and it is a night and day difference.

I still haven't gotten the mic in, that is actually what I am most looking forward too, because the audio quality will be so much better.

No need to go wide. Just record yourself looking at the camera looking very interested, edit the footage into a seamless loop. If you've got the latest version of zoom, you can load video backgrounds and then just cover the camera and play the loops, al la Speed.
