It comes up as 17x5.5, but I am not sure it is 5.5" wide.

The R32 Guide calls it the "Aristo winter wheel" and states it is 5.5" wide, but...

Someone has one for sale with 1J0601025BB 17x7.5 stamped on the back of the wheel,
      which makes me

I believe 8Z8 is the color, IIRC...

      Any help would be appreciated!

      17x5.5 ET36

      http://www.divergent.org/mikes.vws/R32_Accessories.pdf

      do'h.. you just said that.

I don't think these were ever sold in the US.

They are orderable, but I don't think they are 5.5" to be honest.

This guy said his wheel had that info stamped on back....

I guess I deleted the more recent response, but this is what I have in my email....

Do you have the OEM part number?

Bcuz, even on your website, you don’t list this wheel for sale.

      Thanks!

Often the Aristo is confused with the Arietta wheel. There was official documentation from VW that had the names swapped. Most people who think they have a 17 inch Aristo actually have an Arietta wheel. The winter 17 inch Aristo does exist though. 17x5.5 is correct - the narrow tire is to help cut through the snow.

Don't think this is the same rim as above, nor is it an Arietta... Does not even look like the Aristo... But, I need a closer look at BLUL*N's wheels, and would like his p/n?

Maybe Josh (PowerDubs) will chime in, I thought that he had a set of the 17 inch Aristos at one point a while back.

      PD's were knock-off's...

Not really looking for 17" "Aristo's", since that doesn't exist...
Just confused by an ebay seller saying he has that part number in 17x7.5 instead of 17x5.5.

those would be great for winter. How much is a 165 snow tire?

Damn, they look great too! but, are great for snow!!! Just none here in FL...

IIRC, they are that narrow, so you can put tall skinny tires on and use snow chains.

I wonder if this sits in the hatch well flush, since it is 2" shorter than OEM.
Also, wonder if they are as tall as oem to not get the AWD all crazy.
If so, then this is a win for people who want a spare tire that clears fronts rotors and not that ugly donut..

We would have to use a tire size calculator to find a tire size that will be the same height as the stock sized tire.

that pdf someone posted said 205/50/17 for that wheel

makes it a 0.04% difference so it works

Trust me when I say, you do *not* want a 15 spoke winter wheel, narrow or otherwise.
Get a little snow/ice in there, and it's impossible to get out, and will throw your
wheel balance off (snow melts off the top of the wheel after you park due to hot rotors,
falls to the bottom, re-freezes and that's that). Cheap, wide open 5 spoke wheels
are the best for winter use.

Beyond that, you sure a 5.5" wheel clears the front brake calipers? Offset is close to stock
so the spokes have got to be almost an inch further in.
