They have not gotten back to me. I think Valvecovergasket needs it in his life. If anything, a quick flip to hep fund his BGT or something through BAT.

A neighbor had their 65 Thunderbird out yesterday. My wife saw it and proclaimed that that is the next car to get. She said it looked cool and it sat 4. Who am I to argue? I am looking at a '99 ECSB Ram this weekend and then it seems that the Searchtempest turns towards finding a solid TBird to slowly build up.

Somehow I see the rig owner as "Hi, I need to talk to Craig about putting something on his list?"
oh, this is something i know a fair bit about...

do you have a cdl? if so, i suppose you already know its a bad idea

but EPA 98 engines are pretty much the top of the heap as far as that goes.

edit, nvm i see thats just an ad for the wheels/tires.

but anyway ive always said if i had movie star money, instead of fcking around with all those poser semis like the chevy kodiak, or lifted suvs or whatever, id go for a nice lowered square nose pete (359, 379, etc). tending toward something older, because EPA 98, and air operated windows

you put an allison and a 17L motor in there, and you could scare yourself - and plenty of other people - at stop lights

im on car project hiatus for the next few months. got the 16v caddy done enough to push outside, putting in the lift this weekend, and helping a buddy spend his money on a syncro van until the new year.
B is done money wise! i just need to find some more time to finish tuning

but i should really start a car flipping budget though, for deals like that... maybe next year!
that thing is too good not to pass up and flip at that price (unless something is glaringly wrong with it in person).

A few of our dump trucks are FAR too easy to drive and very quick when empty. Basically like driving a really big pickup when they have an auto.

yeah i got to spend a lot of time with a single axle, short frame, sort of a fedex highway spec chassis, truck with an allison and a 500hp 13L.. that was a riot empty.

rowing gears in one of those things gets old, especially on anything without an air-over clutch, which is pretty much everything thats more than a couple years old.

The only experience I have is with straight trucks, and I absolutely cannot stand the 5 speed auto that is in the Durastars. Holy **** it is anger inducing.

the whole truck is for sale, the post owner is unfamiliar with things like a keyboard, the internet, and basic communication skills.

But no, no CDL here. I wouldn't even attempt to drive the race car rig when we had the toterhome.

Eventually we'll see soccer moms driving these because of better visibility. A vehicle "arms" race, as it were.

      allison?

when you buy those boxes as 5 speeds, theyre software limited to be missing one gear. its a really really nice transmission when integrated properly. being in an international means that probably isnt the case (ive only driven their manual trucks, wasnt a fan)

better visibility is a stretch though. youre tall, but with the square nose you could hide an s class in front of you and be none the wiser from the drivers seat.

reminded me of The Far Side - Prehistory where Gary has a sketch to two old people driving with a crossing guard kid smashed in the grill.

I think they're the Eatons? These came from JBHunt's fleet before my side gig purchased them, the Penske rentals of the same vintage have all had the 6 speed auto with the option of hitting a button to just go to 5th.

Much prefer the conventional cab Hinos or the Frieghtliners...they drive like pickups and actually have driver comfort sort of thought of during the production

CSB #1: A couple days ago, I applied for Hagerty insurance on the Mk2 since it's a speciality (race) car - but I want to insure it to be driven (sparingly) on the street. Submitted my application, marked the field where it asked if it was going to be raced. Got a call back, saying they cannot insure it because it was going to be raced, and that it's worth so little . This was despite the fact that they quoted me ~$340/year for a policy based on said inputs. Ah, insurance underwriters are a special bunch.

CSB #2: I mentioned I blew the radio in the M3 the other day. It was a Kenwood KDC-X300, so I went on Crutchfield and ordered the KDC-X302 as a replacement since the X300 is no longer available (<1 year later ). Checked both user manuals to confirm the wiring was the same, it was. Declined the free car-side harness because I intended just to swap radios, without having to touch the harness (which is why I ordered the same kind of radio) and I don't like having extra sh*t laying around. I receive the radio 2 days later, and find that Kenwood changed the LOCATING BOSSES on the connector, such that the connector from my X300 is not compatible with the recepticle on the new X302. So now, Mr. Smart Guy that declined the free harness is now having to hack up the old one to accept the new plug

if theyre eatons the "worst" thing they could be is a DM ultrashift 10 speed. and that integration i know isnt stellar on the internationals - particularly in the '07-ish vintage. never driven one but know some of the folks involved.
yuck. JBhunt isnt know for spending money spec'ing trucks so that would make sense, as the DM 10spd is about as cheap a transmission as you can get.

That seems cheap for a solid k5 (is that considered a k5?)

I just saw a showroom condition 3rd gen Prelude while walking around Burke Lake. Phone was in the car, though :/

I would send my 944 to the crusher right meow for it. It was perfect.

You know, I didn’t even look. It was definitely the mmc, so I know it was definitely EFI. Was it still an option at that point?

I can't remember. I think the base was the si then, and the upper model was SI+4ws? I remember on the mid-90s prelude (the squinty eyes, first non-popup headlights 4th gen I think) there was a non-SI 4ws model, because my friend's mother had one and I thought watching the rear wheels move at low speeds when he screwed around with it was awesome.
