I'm totally confused by the F1 only reaching 217 mph gear limited.

Are there other optional gear ratios available on the F1?

DQ'd: Hennessey GTS (Twin turbo Viper) because of mechanical malfunction.... 14 years and $200,000, they're probably still trying to fix it

I don't know about customer cars but McLaren was known for delivering one of two ringers - one geared for acceleration/track tests and one for top speed shootouts (so it can't hit it's advertised 0-60 and top speed with the same gearing)
