Whatever the case, the idea may be there, but the movement will die a quick death as soon as fight fans are faced with the option of either sharing an evening of big ticket prize fighting with friends or the alternative-- a lonely Mayweather vs Cotto of righteous indignation.

Like it or not, Mayweather vs Cotto Mayweather is, easily, one of the top two draws in boxing and just may be the top cash cow on the Mayweather vs Cotto scene. Miguel Cotto, while not on the same level as Mayweather or Pacquiao, has Mayweather vs Cotto Live a history of drawing a good crowd via loyal Puerto Rican fan base and fans of his aggressive ring style.

The fight, itself, promises to be an intriguing contest. Perhaps five years too late, there is still an interest in seeing how well Cotto, fighting his Mayweather vs Cotto style at a comfortable weight, can do against the supreme in-ring technical genius of Mayweather. Fans know that both are past their primes, but still-- it's Mayweather vs. Cotto.

So, forget about the talk of a boycott. Those refusing to purchase the pay-per-view likely wouldn't have purchased it anyway. Mayweather-Cotto is a guaranteed blockbuster whether critics like the idea or not.

The best bet may be to boycott both Mayweather and Pacquiao and let them know the fans' true displeasure in not getting THE fight. If both sold only about 100,000 pay-per-views for their next bout, the mega-fight would be signed within a week's time.

But we know that won't happen. Fans Mayweather vs Cotto want a fight. The promoters know this and will always be there to exploit them.
