Just like what the title said?

I just bought a Yakima roof rack with no locks and I have it on my car now

I'm planning on putting locks on it soon but I just searched online even with those ppl with locks on their racks, some ppl still had theirs stolen. especially in LA area in Cali which I drive to work to almost each day

I sure don't want mine getting stolen

You guys think there is a way to avoid it from getting stolen?

What sucks to for those stolen roof rack victims was there roof was all scratched up from the thieves prying it off with tools

I guess if you buy the locks you are looking at then it most likely won't be stolen. Or, just use the racks when you need to put something up there.

I'm working on getting money together for my rack so I can't talk from experience, however, I noticed these mounting spots on my SE just under the lip of the roof.

You could try to screw a bolt through the foot of the rack and into this spot. It Wouldn't deter criminals from trying but would definitely keep them from succeeding.

Get locks, and see if your insurance company would cover it if stolen.
      Now:
      2015 VW Jetta TDI - Pure White/DSG
      Then:
      2015 BMW M3 - Sakhir Orange Metallic/6MT
      2016 VW Jetta Sport - Black/5MT

Get locks and document that you have them. Really nothing will stop a theif if he really wants the rack. That being said most theives wont waste their time for a rack. If it does get stolen its up to your insurance at that point.

Dudeisdrummer, I did notice those holes in the back doors. I was thinking of drilling holes in my clips and placing a screw to go on there.

I'd say let them take it. I wouldn't go anywhere past locks. If you result in drilling.... That just means the more they are going to damage the door jams and roof (paint, dent, engrave) to "TRY" and get it off. Then you are left with damage on top of it possibly still being stolen

While you're at it, put wheel locks on all 5 bolts on every wheel, and chain them together when you're parked outside of your garage.

But seriously, I wouldn't do that. Like the guy right above me said, that is just going to screw up your car more in the event that they do try to take it. Then you'll be left footing the bill for a new rack AND damage done to your car.

I wasn't really considering in drilling holes in my car guys.

I was interested in looking into it. anyways I looked at it and the clips do not even reach as far.

and I ziptied each of my cores on top of the locks.

basically it will possibly deter those low-lifers from trying to take it off since it will take more time to try and steal it.

No of coarse not. I didn't mean to imply someones death.... Just to scare them a bit. Even that is illegal i know. Just don't steal my rack!

Put an alarm or rape whistle on it.
