have them and I love them…
And yes, even with legal limit window tint, an insulated, reflective windshield cover, and powerful A/C system, getting in a hot car in Phoenix anywhere from May through September may very well be uncomfortable for 5-10 minutes in the absence of cooled seats. I have family in the south too, and the effect can be similar there due to humidity, although I really have to say that anywhere in the American southwest that regularly gets over 105 degrees for a couple months in a row is a good candidate for this option. I've only gotten to drive one car with it and it was amazing how much quicker it cools you down.
I want them. I will start sweating within 30 seconds of getting in my car when the temperature is even just 65 if it's been sitting in the sun. Air conditioning is just fine for my face, but for my back and my garden of good and evil, more technology is needed.
You think you hate it now, but wait 'til you drive it.
This is more important to me than a heated steering wheel or ACC.
One of the things I truly miss from the Phaeton. And, note: some are cooled, some just circulate air. The ones on the Phaeton and on current MBs circulate air, they don't actually cool. That way, you can stay dry without being chilled. The MB ones will let you switch the fan on in conjunction with the heater, so you can be warm and dry in the wintertime!
I had vented leather seats in my '04 9-5.
I test drove it on an 80 degree day. I won't lie, they were a selling feature.
They totally remove the sticky back/legs you can get with leather on hot days. (Another reason I don't understand America's infatuation with leather/leatherette seats...)
I'm the type of person who gets swamp ass from sitting in a leather chair in a cold office, so ventilated seats in a car are a godsend. I especially love the A/C type (everything but MB which is just a blower?) which feels like you're sitting on a chunk of ice

Maybe it's just the Germans who ventilate without cooling. I drove an X5 for only a few minutes and the seats didn't get cold. I've driven a couple MBZ's (SL55 AMG and CLS550) and they didn't get cold either.
I found a liquor store, and i drank it!
