God I've never seen so many doods fail at sports.

Tonight was Game 7 of the stick rubber disk championship. StL beat Bahston for their first Stanley Cup in their 52 year history.

      Good.

I always wonder how many times they verify the spelling on the Stanley Cup for the players. Control-Z ain't an option.

Thanks everyone I have to call to find out when I’m starting still.

10001110101-I got a job at a VW dealership and working on a start date.

This isn’t going to be easy, because they will try hard to keep me. Have to stay strong.

Like TFAGTI said, light that bridge on fire, and dont look back. I wouldn't even consider the Saturday training sessions that were mentioned.

Don't quit just do a fade on them. Stop showing up. Don't answer phone/texts. If you accidentally p/up and they ask anything "It's not a good time, I'll get back to you"

I hope the commute is better than you fear...good luck

Spent most of last night at the hospital with Mom. She had a little chest pain so she stopped by on the way home from babysitting the grandkids. Her PB was a little high, but it went down. At her age (75) they kept her overnight. I'm confident she's fine, but am pleased with their thoroughness. Working from home today, so I may need to break away to help get her and her car home.

I don't think our trip will be in jeopardy, but there's always a chance they could hold her through the weekend or she could need surgery, right? I swear to god, (said in complete selfishness) if one more thing gets in the way, we might not be able to take this trip.

We just heard this morning that a nephew of the couple we travel with killed himself in Ohio last night.

      That might do it.

Hope MomMike gets cut loose really quick. Sounds like she should.

Sorry to hear about your friends' nephew. Something like that can be really tough. If you have to reschedule, the weather may be more cooperative.

Been talking golf with Erik more than usual lately (which is impressive for our regular discussion topics). This morning on my way to work, driving through a part of the FFX county parkway (or the 7100.../tornado triggered) that is all industrial stuff (business parks, storage lot center, etc.) I see on the side of the road a golf bag, full of clubs, on a pull cart. The pull cart and bag looked like it was time warped straight out of the 50s or 60s. Looked basically like this:

      Weird.

      That's rough, man.

I spent most of yesterday at the hospital with my mom, too. Though, this was planned out. I've mentioned before she's had a myriad of health issues for the longest time, and it was nothing short of a miracle to convince her the best thing to do was to handle it all. Slowly but surely, we've managed to get her taken care of. The masses on her uterus/ovaries are gone, the fluid around her heart has been significantly reduced, she started taking meds for her thyroid issue, her blood pressure is back within a normal range, and now she's one step closer to being able to see again. They took care of the cataracts in her right eye yesterday. Normally, they said it takes about an hour to get in and out. But with everything else she's had going on at the same time, they took extra precautions and proceeded a little more slowly than they normally would for her. The doctor told us that she may require a follow up procedure to clear up anything not gotten now, given how thick her cataract was, but once the eye heals she should notice an immediate difference.

No idea what I was thinking. I know we could have still left on this trip if she was discharged today. My sister is also in town. I was just thinking if her stay was a little longer and a little more dramatic than a follow up appointment next week.

Regardless, I'm pretty sure this nephew thing just canceled the trip.

They are all from Ohio. All came from broken-ass homes.
My buddy worked himself out of it, and we often forget how broken **** was.
His two nephews came to live with him down here about 20 years ago back when they were teenagers (because buddy had his **** together)
Both boys grew up, have families, kids. One joined the Army, they have careers, etc... Likely because of my buddy taking them in and getting them out of Ohio for several years.
      Both are currently getting divorced.
      I know both of them.
      One just committed suicide.
One just found Jesus quite dramatically - and they are worried about him now.

Buddy is currently beating himself up for not calling more often, visiting, etc. In fact, they were supposed to be the first stop on this trip until he told us about the divorce a few months ago.

Yeah. I think I'm probably going to work on Monday. (right click map, "save as," MaybeLater.jpg)
