As an enjoyable car to drive on the street, I would probably choose a nice Carrera any day. The only exception would be a 5 speed '89 Turbo. SC's and Carrera's feel like rockets around town relative to a 930.
I am not saying you would necessarily want a regular 911 over a 930, but you might find that you would enjoy it more at relatively civil speeds. With the super long gearing, 930's want some open space to play.
There is a compromise car. There is a quite rare car that was brought here in the mid-80's when the 930 wasn't officially imported. It is a 'Turbo Look' Carrera with the 930 bodywork (M491 option).
