I'd like some concrete comparison numbers of identical year S5 vs S4 rear entry heights. I'm not debating that the S5 is probably a bit lower than an S4, but more than an inch or two? And is an inch or two really that significant when it's already an inconvenience to bend over to reach in and unlatch an infant carrier or strap in to a rear-facing car seat? Methinks the difference is overblown, and the 5 is a vastly better profile with the added benefit of the rear hatch for loading/unloading bulky items.
Unless I was getting the quadrofoglio, I would go for an sq5 or even a regular q5 over the stelvio if I needed more space than a golf. The stelvio drives better than the q5 but in normal, 95% of the time driving, it doesn't make a huge difference imo.

A tune on the A5 could be very appealing, but the S5 still has about 50hp even on a good tune. Also there's just the inherent smoothness of the V6 vs the buzziness and harshness of even the best 4 banger.
It's quite a bit of money more for the bigger engine. Nearly $12,000CDN more. Just to get an extra 100hp and some slightly nicer seats.
Cars look pretty similar otherwise:

Yes I have.
It was my first choice but would not fit my bike with front wheel off with the seats folded. (Fatbike with studded tires that shred interiors)
Which is why I bought my SQ5 - and like you, I hated luxobarge SUV’s but with the thing in dynamic mode 24/7 it’s less barge’y.
The Panamera is indeed insane, especially when tarted up.
I still half regret my decision, but need to transport bikes inside in winter, so here I am.
