A copywriter from TAXI would buy a 991? More likely a MINI.

The Cayman was a lot of fun. Sure there are faster, more expensive cars out there, but it was the best car I've been lucky enough to own and I enjoyed every second of it. I don't think I'll ever drive another car with such pure steering feedback. Loved the sound of that flat six engine 2 inches behind the seat and really enjoyed how much you could use it for everything. If you look at my signature you can see I kept it much longer than anything else. Nothing bad to say about it at all.

Will do. And I promise not to start a single Porsche thread between now and then.

My guess is a 981 Cayman S or another boxster. Your previous threads indicated you were looking at used 911's and a 2014 seems like it would be out of the price range while the Cayman still kind of fits? I could be wrong though but damn i'm excited for you.

Your Cayman was awesome Hawk, really love those cars. I hope you're moving onto something better, 911 would be amazing.

Too bad there is a waiting period, that part would kill me. How many km's were on the Cayman over 7 years?

Likely from previous owner(s) cars over the years... In all honesty, I saw the driveway at my parents house sink badly with just a Mk2 Golf parked on it for 10+ years, always in the same spot. The holes ended up being several inches deep, and the car would get stuck in them in the winter sometimes. The guy who paved my driveway said try to never park cars in the exact same spot, unless you have a concrete driveway (or way more prep work under the asphalt/interlock than most people ever do). Asphalt/Interlock always gives... both let water underneath causing the base to wash out... both are terrible ideas for a lasting driveway, unless you don't mind sink holes. They are done because they are cheaper (asphalt) or they look better (interlock)...

I have more cars than garage space and that's an interesting solution. Do you know how much something like that would cost?

Get a Volkswagen and a roof for your garage.

      In for later.

I'm almost more curious about which dealer he went to (we have 3 in the GTA, all with varying reputations) than the car itself.

He hates the new Cayman's looks, though.

Thanks Live-Wire. There were 119,000km on it over 7 years. That's 17,000km a year. I think that's pretty good. I did two long drives in it. One down to Tail of the Dragon when I first bought it and one out to Halifax, NS for Canada Day.

Interesting. Yeah, I always park my car in the exact same spot. Never though about moving it around. I've only been in the home 9 months. The previous owners were there 8 years and had a Subaru Outback parked there.

The cost of the canopy is pretty cheap. It's a tensione sail design made by ShadeSail and I think I got mine for about $300. They come in different colours, shapes and dimensions. The tricky part is because it's tensioned with steel cables you need to make sure your attachment points are strong. They say minimum 6"x 6" wooden posts or 4" steel pipes sunk in concrete. Or if you can anchor off your house. So that's the part that might cost a bit more money.
