they release just 3 pictures. This is going to get that new 4 cycl turbo engine making 276hp, and Honda says it will do 167mph. But what's that R button on the left of the dash? What does that do??

I'd venture to guess, some kind of overboost, aggressive damper settings, aggressive stability mode settings, or a combination of all of these.

Miss Daisy might not do all her own work and rub her car with a diaper, but she also wasn't a flatbrim bro who hoped boosted VTAK would make women jump into the car naked at 50mph.

Is this for the US market?

The low red line has got to be emissions related.

276HP sounds like the old Japanese HP limit. Is that by design (meaning 320HP)?

That's the reverse button! No one has experienced Vtec in reverse and lived to tell about it.

I'm actually excited to see this car. Between indycar and now F1, it's going to be interesting to see Honda release more performance oriented models with turbo engines. If they can get their styling back in line a bit, I think they're going to be quite competitive.

its a turbo, what do you expect? i'm sure it'll fall flat after that anyway. its the 500cc/cyl long stroke philosophy basically every other car maker is going with now on turbos. more low end torque, less rpm.

That's because in reverse, the Type-R is RWD! with rear wheel steering!

Marketing. They use Pferdestärke in parts of the world still, and 280PS (a nice round marketing number, similar to McLaren's 650PS) works out to 276hp by SAE measurement. Personally, I wish everyone in the world would switch to metric for everything. Then it would be in KW, but at least it would be the same everywhere.

Sadly, I'm sure it'll fall flat before that. At least with the OEM tune anyway.

And what do I expect? Well, I expect 8000 RPM---the only Type R to have a sub-8000 RPM redline was the very first Accord Type R.

Pretty unknown car on these shores. Had to share this pic because it's sooo 90's

Anyway, whatever, the days of naturally aspirated screamers are over. I'm just gonna be a crotchety old man and swap a B16B into an '88 Civic...Honda is dead to me now (joking, but kinda not really)

Who wants to go 167mph in a civic??? Seems like a bit overkill, limited to 155mph like m3 would be good considering those who buy civic's. Not knocking the type R that performance is outstanding but those who buy Civic's are usually young, like to drive faster than their capabilities and usually try to race a lot of people.( i see these people in new SI's all the time, it's not just older civics being riced out) and I can see a lot of them trying to reach that top speed.

It's actually March 2nd. Somebody forgot Europeans write their dates incorrectly.

      Day/Month/Year makes the most sense.

Am I the only person thinking that this is great?? How long since the last Type-R? I'm looking forward for this coming out.

Outside of exotics, I can't think of any. The highest-revving normal cars that I can think of are the Q40/G37 (7,600) and the BR-Z (7,400). Neither are as enjoyable to take up and over that as a good, n/a Honda engine though. The 2.0 in the BR-Z is especially unsatisfying.

After driving a petty good turbo 4 in a Focus ST, I'm not totally bored by the idea of a turbo anymore. I do think that Honda is capable of making a turbo rev and have a bit of personality, but that doesn't seem to be what's popular with magazines. I'd have preferred if they put that turbo R&D into keeping a n/a high-end screamer that met emissions. It's not like turbos really give a significant mileage boost... especially in a car like this.

Year_Month_Day. It's better for organizing things. Abbreviate the month (2015_Feb_13) to make it totally obvious.
