Motorweek isn't generally negative about cars, but they had a hard time saying nice things about the Pontiac 1000

      0-60 in 30 seconds?

I'm the first to post the epitome of badge engineering? Shame on you, TCL.

Why oh why did GM put that 1.6 liter in the Chevette? Wow.
In Euroland, GM sold the Chevette with a 135 hp 2.3 four banger (in the 70s).

Yes. A limited production special model. The 2300 HS
      http://classics.honestjohn.co.uk/rev...evette-2300hs/
Googling.. they also made an HSR for racing/rallying with fender flares.

I guess they had some rally success since mentioned in this ad.
Why we no get the wagon or notchback coupe?

      I miss my 84' Vette.....I mean Chevette.

I had it when I first started college, it was a year old rental fleet sale my dad helped finance for me.

When driving it in summer here in Vegas, with the A/C on, we would yell "shift or blow!" as the rpms rev'd to the max rpms going into 2nd gear (autotragic)......it never did.

and yes, it almost never got to 60mph as it took too long.

I do miss my growing up in the 80's and driving around in my Hurst. It was a kick ass car in the day.
