For the record, the 1.7 is more desirable than the 1.8 and it isn’t even close! That 1.8had a different injection system and different heads, all of which needs to be tossed to make it perform as it should.

      Ahh, I had no Idea.

Never was a fan of that dog-leg shift pattern, or the speedo in 30 mph increments If I recall, had two holes behind the seats, the battery box, Frunk and trunk etc....

Funnily enough, that was the same time (late 2015) that I looked at that 70s Civic. So slow, and manual steering was odd with Fwd. Dont know which engine that had. Was a 76 witha 5 speed. Or a 78 witha dif engine.

      *1.7 was 80 HP iirc*

I don’t mind the dog leg pattern, but I’m a weirdo.

      1.7 was 80 hp, 1.8 was 76 and the 2.0 developed 90-95. If memory serves the 914/6 made 110.

That’s part of the story, but the other part was drivability. The 1.8 was hindered by a different injection system and smog controls, so it wasn’t as smooth as the others. Also, while 110 hp seems weak for the 6, it was a screamer and should’ve been much more pleasant to drive. I’d like to know firsthand.

Please do not underestimate the value of floors that are rusted through. It gives you the opportunity to examine the surface of the road, without having to see through the windshield, which is probably cracked/pitted/scratched/yellowed.

Here is what appears to be a really clean and cared for 330i ZHP with Manuel no less:

      https://cincinnati.craigslist.org/ct...395194892.html

Selling my 2004 ZHP 6 speed. It has been VERY well taken care of its entire life, with almost all of the service being done at BMW up until a few years ago. Currently the car has 158k miles, but it looks and drives like it has 20k. There are ZERO noises, rattles, leaks, etc...

The past 2 years, it has had many new parts, which include, Bilstein shocks and struts, Lemforder front control arms, LCA bushings, sway bar links, sway bar bushings, engine and transmission mounts. Brembo blank rotors and pads, new CSL style wheels with Hankook Ventus EVO2 tires. The engine has all new CCV parts, DISA valve, intake boots, water pump, radiator, thermostat, fan clutch, BimmerBrakes Gen 3 headers, RK Tunes flash tune, new O2 sensors, new belts and tensioners and to top it off, a new battery. New headlight lenses were also installed.

The interior is in 9.5/10 condition. No wear on the seats, never smoked in. The headliner is nice and tight still, no sagging anywhere. A/C is ice cold and heat is hot. The factory radio sounds excellent with the Harmon Kardon speakers and has the BMW AUX cord option.

Exterior is a 8.5-9/10 ONLY because of rock chips on the front bumper and leading edge of the hood. There are NO dents, dings, rust or scratches anywhere else, the car has ALWAYS been garage kept.

Feel free to ask any questions, PM me or post up. I'm asking $9250 for the car, the first person to drive it will fall in love. It really feels like a new car.

This is well written. I'd buy him a beer.

      https://chicago.craigslist.org/sox/c...389549710.html
--> Why sit on the couch eating corn chips when you could be out restoring this Valiant Charger* to it`s former glory? <--
1998 BMW 318ti. Automatic, A/C, Factory AM/FM wC/D Changer and weather bands, Power sunroof, power windows/locks, cruise, traction control, factory tools, lotta new stuff. Clean title. $350.

Here we have a hatchback with new starter** (this alone is a $600 job), new belts, tensioner, pulleys, hoses, alternator, brake caliper, power steering fluid reservoir with integrated filter, rear hatch gas cartridges, and like new Kumho Ecsta LX tires. Pretty nice designerly interior.

      That's the Good News.

      The Sub-Good News:

      • It's 2,745 lbs. of German-Engineered Not Currently Running.
3 Series BMWs of this vintage are known to arbitrarily fry their engine bay wire harnesses and this particular specimen did not disappoint in this regard. It's fried real good.
Engine ran beautifully and with no check engine lights or codes prior to this event.
Harnesses can be had on eBay for around $200. Installation is said to take four hours.
      Your mileage may vary.

      • Power windows in name only. Again, a well documented BMW 3 Series shortcoming. The original regulator track grease eventually transforms into a stubborn and impassible paste, binding the regulator's "scissor" assembly which subsequently bends under the mighty Teutonic torque of the window motor. I have the new regulators, you own the pleasure of installation. Clean and re-grease the tracks and you're back in bidness.

      • The ignition key does the famous "BMW 3 Series spinning ignition key" thing.
(Google: "BMW 3 Series spinning ignition key"). Can be remedied with a drill bit and a set screw. Set screw is provided.

      • The fog lights are cosmetic aftermarket additions and are not connected electrically, although you could, because they're actual lamps and stuff.

This car truly is a fun driver when it runs under out's own power. Fairly perky performance and really nice handling. It would be a waste to relegate this car to a boneyard. The laundry list really isn't as hideous as it looks. Go ahead and make the save.

You'll want to BRING A TRAILER, DOLLY, TOW TRUCK, OR ROLLBACK because you're not driving it away unless you're the Pep Boys, David Copperfield, and Jesus all rolled into one.

      -------------------------------------------------------------

      * No relation to Mopar products, real or fictitious.

**When I say "new starter", I mean that the harness appears to have fried while in the custody of the garage that installed the starter. It has yet to be used for the first time. The new belts, tensioner, pulleys, hoses, alternator, brake caliper, power steering fluid reservoir with integrated filter are similarly awaiting their collective turns to be pressed into service for the first time.

Cash only, and don't forget to BRING A TRAILER, DOLLY, TOW TRUCK, OR ROLLBACK, cuz you ain't drivin'.

As is, where is. Cash only. No, I do not require dealer assistance.

Reported mileage is approximate because I can't remember for sure and it's outside and I'm not.

      Soarer
      https://chicago.craigslist.org/nwc/c...371984428.html

Up for sale is my 1991 Toyota Soarer.

      VIN# JZZ30-005120
      Mileage: 63500km or 39648mi

Clean Illinois title with the correct information listed. Imported with all correct documentation and 100% legal Federal and State.

1JZ-GTE Inline 6 Twin-Turbo engine mated to A340E automatic transmission. Even though vehicle is auto it does a surprisingly good job at selecting gears.

      Engine is rated at 279hp / 268lb-ft
The 1JZ-GTE engine is a smaller 2.5 liter cousin to the 2JZ-GTE engine, built to similar strength and can withstand upwards of 700HP on factory bottom end.

The A340E transmission is Toyota's 4 speed automatic transmission with O/D, notably also featured in the MK4 Supra Twin-Turbo Automatic.

PWR mode switchable at the center console stiffens up suspension as this vehicle is equipped with Toyota TEMS system.
TEMS - (Toyota Electronic Modulated Suspension) was a shock absorber that was electronically controlled (Continuous Damping Control) based on multiple factors, and was built and exclusively used by Toyota for selected products during the 1980s and 1990s (first introduced on the Toyota Soarer in 1983)

Vehicle starts and drives smoothly, builds boost and maintains pressure throughout the rpm band. Digital gauge cluster free from bleeds on the lcd.

Original 1 piece WEDS Farmas wheels in a staggered setup with new Yokohama S Drive tires.

Additional to power options listed it has power folding mirrors.

Air purifier was also an option and this vehicle has it.

Now being that the vehicle is 1991 the paintwork is in OK. There is some scratches and visible repair on the fenders. No major dents and most importantly no rust is present

Pretty firm on the price. Definitely the cleanest Soarer currently available.

I was thinking that's a low price compared to what i paid ~3 yrs ago (same car basically) but based on the zhpmafia FS boards, prices have dropped a bit.

The guy doesn't know what he has, it seems. Asked him which motor is swapped in and he had no clue but sent me a pic. Visually, it's an M or S52, based on oil cap location.

Considering the hard to figure out issues you can have with a stock old BMW, I really don't want a Frankenstein pig in a poke.

There's no better way to devalue an item than to claim 'valued at'. Toothbrushes, cars, whatever - if it says 'valued at', move the decimal to the left.
