Good luck on the sale. I like your car better, btw. The seats, headlights, seats, color, and seats set it a notch above that other one. At least in my book.
I agree with the above. The euro GTI, + the turbo is huge. Only difference is the Canadian registration. Might be worthwhile to do some legwork to see how to export it to the US.

Moved to another job in 1990 and the computer support guy's brother had a Mk. I GTI.
The L is the loaded rabbit (though its not a GTI, which I know is what you were saying). It went: Base, C, L. The base was missing stuff like a fold down rear seat, day/night mirror, rear defroster/wiper, cigarette lighter and much much more.

Don't think that was true for 1983. I'll check my sales brochure when I get home. I think it went L, LS …

      You are right. http://www.a2resource.com/brochures/...it/rabbit.html

I am going off my my 80. 83 still had a ton of equipment for the base model. Almost Everything listed in the standard features with the exception of tinted glass for the L in 83 was not even optionable in an 80 base. (http://www.a2resource.com/brochures/...rabbitsup.html)

Not Euro, Canadian. Canada didn't get the 110hp Heron Head 1.6.

      You are correct PoorHouse

Euro heron motor is code EG
This car original engine EH verified by VW birth certificate
Currently running EJ code 1.6 with the turbo. Figure it’s close to the euro setup plus makes cool turbo sounds!

I miss that little car. 4 speed. Still had a carb. A whole whopping 65 h.p. FI got it to 74 h.p. And the GTI was a barn-burner at 90 h.p.

But, it's not moving much mass. I think it weighed something like 1,700 pounds.

I had to buy the passenger's side mirror since it didn't; come with one.

Miss getting tires, too. $100 out-the-door in 1986 for great all season Gislaved tires. Little 155/80-13.

With 5 days left it’s at $7900, and with desirable cars there’s a ton of activity at the end, so who knows how high it’ll go?

I wish it were coming home with me.

      Good luck!
