I have the same exact setup you have for the last 2 years. The box looks big but I also have a Eurovan that the same box goes on and it looks small. I also found a nice trick. Get folding two step thing (you know, those fold flat things you use around the house). Makes life much easier when you load it up and need to unload it. For my Eurovan, it takes a 4 step one because the darn thing is 8ft above the ground.

Here I am traveling down to Fla this past year with a full load. My next upgrade will be a set of Firestone helper airbags for the rear which will help the sagging issue.

Here is my rack (Malone Airflow2), and my new (to me) Yakima Skybox Pro. Awesome score on the box, it cost me $250 and included Thule Square bars and feet. I obviously don't need those, so I'll be selling them and reducing my cost of the box.

But anyway, here's the rack, it fits perfect, works great with the Skybox, and the only issue I've had is I lost an end cap in a car wash. I've already ordered 4 new end caps for $10, which should be here any day now. It's the back passenger side missing, but it's actually a good thing for those curious of the construction of the bar, you can see the innards.

These low profile bars look great. Have you run into any clearance issues when attaching box/basket/bike mounts?

Seems like these and Whisp Bars are the low profile options - was there a reason you went with the Thule over the Whispbar?

Thank you sir. Honestly, I chose the Thule over Whisp because of a company that readily stocked the parts near my workplace. I haven’t had any issues with the box on top and recently did a 500 mile trip with a fully loaded box.

Here is a recent pic with bars on and no box.

Malone Airflow bars (1st gen) and Yakima Skybox 16. IMO this is the right size box for our cars. It's big enough to be useful without looking like a boat up top.

Anyone running a 1 1/4" hitch on their AT with a 1up rack? How is it? Any wiggling or bouncing? Should i go 2"?

I don't plan on towing anything..just want to haul bikes behind the car.

A 2" receiver is 299 bucks on etrailer, and the 1 1/4" receivers are 115 bucks so clearly theres a winner there.

      Function before fashion..

Full Thule setup with two bike slots, a Cargo XT with the extension. Welded extra panels for an LED whip pole, a CB Pole, 2 x Jerry Can Gas holder, and a fire extinguisher. It also has 4 LED light pods mounted in the front and back and a LED light bar.

Still thinking of welding on additional bars to support my Thule kayak holder as well.

Dont worry, Ill post with some bikes on there soon enough!

Tried searching the formus but couldn't find a solid answer. In this setup (EcoHitch plus Sherpa), when the rack is fully loaded and you tilt it down, can you open the hatch? If so, how wide are your handlebars and how much clearance is there?

I would imagine this would be the same with other hitches so calling out to all Sherpa owners.

      Thanks!

Thule Aeroblade Edge with the Thule Frontier box and 1Up roof rack (and my Lemond Poprad). Tight with the box and the bike, but doable.

I have a 2 thule bike setup with a skinny kuat gear basket to carry duffle bags, though probably going to switch it to an easier to remove box. Only upside to the gear basket is it can also carry an additional bicycle with a built in fork mount inside the basket.

Not a Sherpa owner, but my rack looks to sit tighter to the car than the Sherpa does and I have plenty of clearance when tilted. I've got a MTB with 800mm bars with plenty of space.
