Can we all just be happy this is the first Type R Honda will bring to the States?

And lol at people complaining it's FWD. What did y'all expect?

I'm curious if this thing is going to get at least 30 mpg hwy. The Golf R 6 speed manual is heavier and is rated at 23/31.

This might be the first car where I'd spring for an anti-styling kit. No wing, no obnoxious bumpers, one or two exhaust tips - make it a Type R in a base-model Civic suit. Those aren't attractive either, but at least it would be easier on the eyeballs.

Shame, since I have no doubt this thing will be a scream to drive.

its weird that they'd spend all that time and expense designing (and ruining) the exterior, that they'd then go ahead and make the interior such an afterthought.

exterior: BAMM IN YOUR FACE I'M A RACECAR
interior: bland (except for the seats)

This would have been awesome back in 2005 when everyone loved rice. It's about 10 years too late.

The interior of the competition is not a dramatic shift away from the economy base, aside from the seats. (R, RS, & STI)

Could multiple people explain what makes this "ricier" than say a WRX STI or a Focus RS?

Rear bumper vents aside. And try to directly answer the question. Don't tell me it's "ricier" because you think the Civic is ugly to begin with.

STI is actually a pretty tame design sans wing.

This thing-- red trim all 'round the bumpers + side skirts. Red lip on the wheels Wide expanses of faux mesh plastic on the bumpers, vents that look tacked on. It looks overtly pre-accessorized from the factory. Shame cause it's likely a fantastic drive as well as reliable.

The only thing it's missing is red underglow.

We haven't seen the configurator yet!

Also, when luxury brands are offering this:

      all bets are off.

I see this all the time...NO, just no. What a horrible idea. In before someone with a Subaru makes the emblem stars glow...Those guys are extremely creative in making their cars look tacky and awful.

I'm sure you could sell off the bumpers and other fancy widgets on CL with enough to buy basic Civic replacements, or do a swap with someone. Heck you could probably mention it to the line of kids waiting at Best Buy for a new Switch and see some real chaos.
      A loving welcome from TCL

Problem is there is aero in all the bodywork. That **** isn't just tacked on...even the old ITR wing was functional.

Can't wait for idiots to "run it wingless"

How many idiots will drive a Type R on city streets at the kind of speeds necessary where said aero makes any difference?

Actually, never mind... don't answer that.

Is this not a road/track day vehicle? Does any idiot actually get up to enough speed on a public road to use the aero?
