Thread: Power liftgate - anyone's retrofitted Touareg or aftermarket?

Just bought a 2016 Tiguan R-line and LOVING IT, arguably the best CUV in the market, meeting our needs. However, the rear bumper and liftgate design is TERRIBLE, to open the damn liftgate you need to reach to the bottom which has no bumper lip causing it to have all dirt and grime all over the handlebar... hence it desperately needs a power liftgate. I am shocked they never offered one over the years even in the top of the line models.

Anyone has attempted to retrofit a Touareg, or get any aftermarket kit installed? I found this on eBay and there's a Youtube video by the same guys installing it on Tiguan and it seems to work well, albeit, very hard to install! http://www.ebay.ca/itm/For-2010-2016...MAAOSwIwhWSefy

      Thanks

I have seen the video on that kit from China and it seems to be the only one out there. I doubt the Toureg stuff will ever fit. They do have what you are looking for in Europe, but I have never seen someone retrofit. I can only guess the cost would be prohibitive.

Thanks. You mean power liftgate is offered as option in Europe?

Anyone have any experience and/or comments installing this? Easy? Hard" Panel removal to route wires?

I asked for the PDF but what I got was a single page PDF with microscopic jpeg's on them, very hard to read and AFAIK impossible to print.

Hey, i found one that works just like the factory one. I installed it on my wifes Tiguan. I got it from https://truckenhance.com . The url to the aftermarket power liftgate system kit is https://truckenhance.com/product/pow...m-foot-sensor/ . The best part it comes with a foot sensor to allow you to open the tail gate with you feet! So actually better than the dealer one!...lol. The wife loves it! By the way I reached out to the dealers and some said they can't do it and one said it will cost over $2,000 to do it. I said NO thanks! and got this one from Truck Enhance, works great for those of you that wants one. It took me about 3 hours to do the installation, it's pretty straight forward.

How about getting one from an Audi Q3? It was an option.
