Metric tools FTW. You can never find that 9mm wrench when you need it.

Great job keeping your cars in shape and wrenching it yourself.

I know! But that's not really on purpose when it was the daily with a short commute. Although it's noticeably "stiff" if I go more than a week of not driving it. Shifting into 2nd isn't guaranteed.

Fo sho. I just bought a set of metric crowfoot wrenches too. Would've been handy with the brake line fittings.

I have one of these Lisle VW brake line/bleeder wrenches. (Sorry about the size, that's all I could find).

It's 7mm 6-point on the box end for bleeder screws and 11mm on the line wrench for the metal fittings for brake lines. I only use it every couple of years or so, but because of the bends it's easy to find in the drawer.

Does anyone make a modern equivalent? It's so damn handy I wouldn't want to be without it!

Ladies & Gentleman, the M5 is up for sale.

Probably not a surprise if you saw the GTI thread but with lack of space and time to keep it in tip-top shape, it's time for someone else to enjoy the car.

Anyone who's followed this thread knows how meticulously I've maintained it and if you're interested in it, shoot me a PM.

For anyone local who wants to see it, I'm planning on driving it to Radwood on Saturday assuming I'm no longer sick by then.

Otherwise I'll likely submit it to BaT and see how that goes. Currently at 116k miles.

Good luck with sale, you will have absolutely zero troubles appealing to the BaT crowd. Job well done.

Interested to see what you get for it if sold on BaT. My '03 currently has 117k miles. Mine is not as clean as yours cosmetically, but mechanically its tip-top shape.

Oh, wow. Whoever gets this is one lucky SOB. I wish I had space right now as I'd be all over it. If you do put it on BaT, post the link! I'd love to follow the auction. Although, I'd be tempted to bid.

      Never mind.

The wife nixed it. Thank you for your prompt reponses, Kiz. Apparently, between having my 987, S3, E28 535i, and my friend's Mk7 GTI at our house, along with my wife's car, and my general cheapness with other expenditures over the past 8-10 months as I started my own firm, my wife will divorce me (or so she threatens) if I acquire another hunk of unreliable German sheet metal.

Best of luck Kiz! Be sure to link us to the BAT auction!

EDIT: And I already reserved the license plate "UNBNT M"

I'd seriously be a dead man. My wife would leave me for a cross-fit instructor or something just to screw with me if I bought it. That said, what are you asking?

Best of luck to you man. You have a super clean M5, and I’ve loved seeing it throughout the years.

If it wasn’t already breaking the reliable E39 M5 Id be tempted.

There's someone interested in North Carolina who understandably wants a PPI (I did one too). Just called the local dealer for a quote:

      $430

      Damn.

When selling a previous car, an out of state buyer simply told the dealer he would pay for 1hr of labor and let the technician go through as much as he could in that amount of time. $150 or whatever the dealer is charging for labor is a lot better than that $430 quote.

      Came to suggest this.

Even when labeled a 'PPI' I still don't see lux dealers charging more than $250. M tax?
