If you can't have tinted windows (Rhode Island) this is as close as I dare. Bought the car used from Virginia with a beautiful tint job, but had to remove the tint from all but the cargo area windows.

I'm a little embarrassed, but I'll post anyways. Got this **** tint job done recently. Asked them to re-do it, but they said they would rather remove it and refund. Now I have to find a new shop. Any recommendations for good shops in Raleigh, NC?

I'd love to get my tinted, just need to find a shop that takes care of the dot matrix. That silvery line would bother me too much. I've heard some shops use black vinyl. Are there other ways of shops dealing with the dots?

      Two questions:

      1. What is visibility out the back like with 20% vs 35% at night? I like the way it looks but if I go 20%, I am worried I won’t be able to see anything.

      2. It is illegal to tint the front windows here. What % can I do safely that will look OEM but still get some of the benefits of heat reduction? 50%? 65%?

I have 20% ceramic tint and I can see fine at night. I don't do a ton of night driving, but when I do I don't really think that I'm struggling with visibility.

Anyone have their wagon tinted - and attempt to match the pano sunroof? I’m curious what %/type/brand have been determined to be “close” to that?

3M 20% all around. It’s not bad at night in the city/well lit areas. In remote areas it’s pretty dark at night. Just recently added LED reverse lights which help.

I did not think about matching my window tint to the pano tint. However, I drive a black Alltrack and when it is freshly washed, the pano roof glass is very close to the body color. The pano glass is the only glass that came tinted from the factory and it is very dark, I'd say it's close to the 20% tint I have.

Ceramic 70% windshield, 20% driver/passenger doors, 5% everywhere else. Didn’t do the sunroof.

As rare as these are, I've might have seen your car near Verona and west Madison - a white one with dark tint all around. At times I visit a friend in Verona and I go to Blue Mound often. Mine's a white '19 with same wheels and a 1Up rack most of the time.

For others' questions about sight and law.... I have 50% front to where it's legal in most states, is a nice improvement most days, and fine at night. My wife chose 20% back wanting to match her Sienna SE and our Outback. The tint shop people said she has 20% with the Sienna SE (lowered, sport wheel/suspension version of Sienna aka Swaggerwagon), same for our Outback. The Alltrack with darker glass in back is no different than driving our van and Outback that came with dark tints. The shop I went to for tint said don't bother with the panoramic roof but he would take our money. He said the roof will still roast being a bunch of dark or darker glass.

      Horsemanure.

Ceramic tint (regardless of color) will reject heat and UV very nicely and it helps significantly with heat reduction.

I live in Verona so it was probably me. Mine’s a ‘17 with lighting package.

Looking to get the same done. How is the heat reduction, is it noticeably cooler when the car is left in the sun?

      Noticable heat reduction.

I chose a place with good reputation and price that only does 3M products. 50% front and 20% rear is definitely cooler. All that dark panoramic roof still gets hot. The tint place said with much experience (they mostly work on cars from the area's biggest VW, Ford, Chevy and Acura dealers) they doubted more tint on the Alltrack panoramic roof would be the improvement it would if it had an opaque shade. The roof just gets hot.

The 50% front is legal and a big improvement if anyone has hesitation. 50% is not a cop magnet.

I did 50% on the front door windows of my last wagon and 35% for the rest and I never did like it. I did not care for the lack of symmetry or cohesiveness. So this time I went 35% all around.

Honestly, I don't know how people drive at night with super dark tints. I guess they just deal with it and get used to it for the day time benefits.
