Really? I have a season tune with the shop I can sort of see through the trees at my Vermont place. They tune my skis on the Wintersteiger in May when I'm done skiing, roll on wax, and don't scrape it. That's what is on my skis for fall skiing. After a run or two on eastern hardpack, the wax is gone. I can't remember the last time I tuned my own skis other than a stone to knock the burrs off when I'm on a trip. More than 30 years ago. Even the fast guys at the Wednesday local's race and the mountain school kids have one of the shops tune their race skis.

When you DIY, you can do more for less money.

The warm wax roller that many shops do, don't penetrate into the pores of the UHMWPE base that well, which is why you need to rewax more frequently, than a hot-wax
