Thread: Golf R RPM dependent cold engine noise

Hopefully y’all can help me figure this out. Whenever the car is cold it makes a whizzing/rattling noise that seems to be RPM dependent. It goes away once the oil temp starts to register on the MFD. there’s absolutely no other sounds or issues once warm. Car has APR stage 1 ECU/TCU flash.

I’ve searched the forums and found stuff about the wastegate rattle and the Soundaktor, both of which I don’t think are my problems.

I hear more of a whining sound on mine...sounds like a bad/going pump or bearing in an accessory but does seem to quiet down once warmed up. I do also smell coolant every now and then. New car...just 3k miles.
