Good. New Focus reviews out of Europe say the new chassis is spectacular.

Except, the only Focus will be Chinese made with a small lift kit and automatic only, if even that.

Ford's NA plan is idiotic, even if gas was as cheap as it was 3 years ago.

That is something completely different from the "real" Bronco that this thread is about. And we always knew that the "baby Bronco" would always be on the Focus platform.

Agreed, we should keep baby Bronco rumors to that other thread.

Worth noting, Jeep is moving a **** ton of vehicles. Ford’s better off offering something in every segment that Jeep is in than chasing a bigger piece of a smaller sedan pie.

      Compass Baby Bronco
      Cherokee Escape
      Wrangler/Unlimited Bronco
      Grand Cherokee Edge/Explorer
      Grand Wagoneer (soon?) Explorer/Expedition

Mind you I’m not expecting the Bronco to be as hardcore as a Wrangler, more like a 4Runner, but they’ll still occupy the same market space.

Jalopnik says Ford will offer a 6-speed (or maybe 7-speed) manual on the Bronco.

Seems like a really low volume project so I'm guessing it will also be in Mustang and Ranger eventually.

      https://jalopnik.com/the-2020-ford-b...smi-1829563048

Although the take rate may not be high, the move to add a manual transmission makes a lot of sense if Ford is planning to pit the Bronco against the new Jeep Wrangler, which offers a manual transmission in certain configurations that have been praised in early reviews.

LinkedIn profiles for Getrag employees show that their engineering division in Germany has been working on a new manual transmission since 2015 that is internally called the 6/7MTI550. The base version of this project is the six-speed manual 6MTI550 which can be upgraded to a seven-speed version called the 7MTI550. This numbering scheme would fall in line with their previous projects as the Ford MT-82 was internally called the 6MTI500 prior to being installed on the Mustang.

According to a spec page on the Getrag website, the 6/7MTI550 is a six or seven-speed manual transmission that is rated for 405 lb-ft of torque which would match well to the current rating of 400 lb-ft of the 2.7-liter EcoBoost engine. The spec page also shows a date of 2021 as well as the capability for use in all-wheel drive applications.

Has anyone heard when we'll see at least a concept version? LA or Detroit this year?

I would be pleasantly surprised if Ford did offer a manual. Its just that automatics are so good now. It was a legitimately difficult decision for me to go with the manual over the automatic, because the auto is that good.

I'd probably order it that way if I were in the market, but the way I'm looking at it is that if I could stuff a manual only one place in the market where it's lacking, the Bronco would not be my first thought. Probably not my 10th, either.

Every new article that comes out about the new Bronco convinces me that no one outside Ford has the slightest clue about the new Bronco.

Kinda makes you wonder if they have an active disinformation program within the company. If so, then they may have false information available within the company so that each time specific rumors leak, they may be able to determine where they planted that false info and who had access. That can help you track down who's leaking info if you only plant certain bad rumors in specific databases, for example.

Exactly what Billy Costigan suggested to Frank Costello to weed out the rat.

This is it, folks. We’ve found pictures of the 2020 Ford Bronco.

Found on a publicly accessible part of a Ford website hosting pictures of the 2018 dealer meeting in Las Vegas, these pictures give us a dandy look at the new Bronco.

A pair of superbly retro round LED headlights paying homage to the original Bronco bookend a bold grille featuring the word FORD in block letters, which appear to be illuminated. This mirrors some of the teaser images officially released by Ford, so we’re confident this is the real deal.

The side profile shows a lantern-jawed machine with square lines. A vent of some sort, likely decorative, is ahead of the front door. There is also a neat character line that kicks up into the rear side glass just aft of the rear door. Its white roof is a take on a styling flourish that’s rapidly permeating all corners of the crossover industry.

And, yes, the new Bronco is most definitely a four-door crossover, not an enormous SUV as we remember it. However, it’s styling as shown here is appropriately chunky, as if the designers were given a T-square as their sole tool. We’re OK with that.

The Bronco shown on the far right has a satisfyingly chunky set of tires, indicating that while this rig may not be a direct competitor to the Wrangler, it will likely be able to take on terrain similar to that conquered by machines like the Cherokee Trailhawk.

Which raises a good question – what would Ford call an off-road focused Bronco? FX4? Adrenalin, maybe? Your guess is as good as ours.

The reason we think this image here is the Bronco and not some sort of ‘baby Bronco’ (which has also been alluded to in potential product plans) is thanks to the other images being shown to the audience in these photos. Marketing-speak like “authentic off-road capability” and “an SUV that means business” could refer to anything but the image of the word ‘Bronco’ by itself leads us to believe we are looking at that machine.

Also, recall that Ford did tease something earlier this year that could be a smaller crossover with a similar style to the one shown here. However, its headlights are just ever so slightly more upswept than this rig’s, whose round peepers have decidedly square frames.

Now we know what the Bronco will look like, our next job is to speculate on powertrain options. Four-cylinder? EcoBoost V6? What type of four-wheel drive system will it have? Stay tuned for that speculation.

Also, it's confusing, the entire automotive community has mixed this up over and over, me included. To the point where I think Ford probably screwed up by calling both of these upcoming vehicles "Broncos." (imo)
