Hey guys, just want to share some output pictures comparing an OEM HID projector vs our VXT Bi-LED Projector from the new Gen2 headlights.

OEM HID projector is using an Osram CBA bulb which is one of the top dog bulbs, roughly at $160 per set of bulbs.

      VS

VXT Bi-LED projector, at 58K Temperature.

Even though the OEM HID Projector is using a pretty nice quality bulb, and providing some nice brightness, the cutoff width and projection doesn't seem to surprise, as it slowly dies from side to side.
On the other hand, the VXT Bi-LED projector offers a nice wide sharp cutoff, that gives you that nice output all throughout the cutoff. Keep in mind that this is an LED projector against an HID Projector, where HID should always be on top. But in this case, comparing it to the OEM HID, we can definitely say, the LED projector wins. What do you all think?

On top of all this, our projector offers a high beam feature, which is why its called (Bi-LED). It offers a low and high beam mode, which OEM HID projector does not have.

(High beam mode is not pictured)

We will be assembling the first production prototype sample next week. Here are some pictures of the VXT reflector right out of the mold. We performed a quick (vacuum metalized) chrome process.

Full video coming soon, covering installation and output.

Looks great Mike! I can't wait to install onto my car. My OEM HID's have a broken adjuster on one side so they are permanently facing down a bit on the drivers side. It's unfortunate, but thankfully it's not broken in such a way that it dazzles oncoming traffic.

So sick Mike! Thanks for the pics and updates.

Wow look at that nice, thick blue cutoff that goes the entire length!
      AWESOME!
      Good job guys!
Edit: I feel badly for those who cancelled due to impatience...I hope they aren’t looking at these pictures!
      Beautiful!

By the way, are the two pictures taken with the front lens off?
The cutoff definitely changes once the glass is installed. Been there and done that.
Can you elaborate on that for us?

I must say the LED projection is incredible.
I was always under the impression that LED projection has no "hot spot" for distance lighting, but I do see a hot spot
      on your Bi-LED system.
      I am very impressed
Thanks for taking the time and posting these images

These are just the projectors alone. Cutoff intensity can change if the headlight lens is dirty of course.

Official prototype sample has finally arrived. This coming Friday we will be shipping this sample to get tested. Videos and lots of pictures coming a week or two, after the headlights are delivered.

After we get the results back, we will either make any final modifications (if needed), or start arranging production. So far, everything is looking good.

This sample is mainly being used to focus on fitment, tolerances and output. Cosmetic details and finishes are not 100% completed. So if you see any minor visual flaws on these pictures, dont panic . Once we approve the sample and mold gets 100% finalized, then any cosmetic flaws will will go away.

What is the difference between new assemblies and retrofits? Is the performance the same?

What exactly are you referring to as a “retrofit”?

I believe retrofit is OEM housing with new components as opposed to all new assemblies.

If you think Euro HIDs are bad, try driving around on stock USA headlights. They are a huge improvement over what we got on MKIVs.

Also, be sure you have the correct Euro HIDs, as in for LHD not RHD like in the UK. Plenty of people have Euro lights, but if you have RHD that definitely doesn’t help as much. The RHD have a way to switch the cutoff in the projector, but it only flattens the beam pattern, it doesn’t completely switch it to LHD.

With all that said, think you’ll sell your Euro HIDs?

That happened to me. Bought a set of Euro HID’s off of a member here and not only were they RHD, the height adjustment screws were broken. Unfortunately I didn’t know this for a while because I didn’t install them right away. I guess they are cool to ha r for a period correct American mod. Just wish the beam pattern and cutoff was correct. Thankfully they are stuck in the down position and I’m not blinding anyone, plus I hardly ever drive the R at night anymore now that we picked up a wagon.

You can swap in a set of LHD projectors easy once you get the front glass off. Also, could fix the adjustment screws too.
Some mods to the projector and you can get a more blue and/or sharper/duller cutoff.
I’d have to look through my lighting stash but I’m sure I’ve got some bora or golf lhd lamp parts laying around in the basement.
Used to sell them back in the day as part of the OG C2 Motorsports company.
Let me know and I’ll pull that ish out of the depths of my basement.
