      - 20th had Recaros - while nice seats, that fabric did not hold up well and there was no option for heated seats
      - This edition also comes with limited availability (1k less than the 20th total available in US back in '03)
      - Comes in exclusive colors just like the 20th except you get four choices instead of three
      - Upgraded brakes, R Brakes on this edition, TT brakes on the 20th
      - 20th had Monsoon audio - Can't speak for the system in the new car
      - 20th had sunroof, Rabbit does not
      - New Rabbit seats are heated, 20th seats were not
      - New Rabbit has the diff, 20th did not
      - New Rabbit has LED headlights, 20th had normal halogens
      - Both 20th & Rabbit have "body kits".
      - 20th had two doors, Rabbit has 4
      - 20th had the Aristos which I still feel are some of the best looking OEM wheels. Black R wheels are a let down for me.

This Rabbit edition is nicely rounded enthusiast offering in my opinion. I doubt many of them will be sitting on the dealer lot for long. I for one am just glad VW is offering ANY enthusiast offerings at this point.
Excellent retort to this guy. I couldn't agree more, this is the coolest thing VW has put on a GTI since the 20th, IMO. All enthusiasts should understand that means I am not referring to any R variants.

That's seriously all the response you've got? UncleJB and I both owned 20ths in 2003. What cars even have "body kits" anymore, similar to the Votex valances that the 20th got?

I bet Urano looks awesome on the GTI. I'd really be torn between Urano and Cornsilk.

I agree - reminds me of the Farenheit stickers. They definitely could have done something a little nicer, even just a real retro Rabbit badge. The rest of the car looks exactly how I'd want it though. Including no sunroof, and not because helmet.

Not sure why that guy mentioned that a dozen times. My 20th has a sunroof and I never had an issue driving with a helmet on in autocross.

Yeah but that's the least of your worries, just like with the Passat GT, the Canadians get Fender Audio, the Americans don't... why VW, WHY?

What I saw was they were selling the S for $21K as a blowout at the end of model year. Otherwise they were like $25595 (in 2017). Unless I read this wrong, it seems the Rabbit is the higher priced dumbed down version of the golf? I guess I'll have to read the whole thread.

Gosh, that brings back a lot of great memories. Maybe another GTI is in my future.

Yeah, you might find the odd leftover S for $22k but mostly they are $25k in New England at least. (I've been looking).

I love these Rabbit Editions, but $30k is just too rich for me.

Can you get a GTI with a sunroof and the upgraded headlights, but still have the plaid seats? That's the way I would want it. I know you unfortunately can't get rid of the keyless entry system unless you get the base model.

Only if you find a 2018 SE-trim one. Leather was optional on those in 2018 but standard was plaid seats and the upgraded headlamps were standard. 2019 switched back to leather as standard on SEs.

As for keyless entry, I have it on my 2017 Golf Wolfsburg Edition and I like it more than I thought. I was totally "meh" about it beforehand but once I had it I kinda like it. Same goes for auto headlamps and rain-sensing wipers. None of those were a must-have but now that I have them, I like them a lot.

      See the 2018 build here:

If I were shopping these that might be enough to change my mind now that I have gotten used to my Fender system.

I don't believe you can at least in the US.

It does look kind of cheesy but the blue is nice.

A-ha! You're right, this is the exact car I would buy if I were ready for such a purchase: Tornado Red, plaid seats, fancy wheels, better headlights, sunroof, and all the SE performance upgrades. You're probably right about the keyless entry; It's probably awesome.

Once you go keyless entry you’ll never go back.

My wife never takes her fob out of her bag.

I had it on my e90 m3 and not on any of my current cars and do not miss it. Guess the BMW implementation was not perfect(aka sometimes would not unlock) so that could be the reason why.

Comfort Access in our Minis works fine.

I hated it on my 2015 GTI, couldnt wash it without it locking/unlocking constantly. Keyfob died all the time too.

I agree it is frustrating at times on my Golf as well. And my battery just died in my fob after less than a year. Meanwhile the wifes key is still on the original battery after 4 years.

100% this. I want a sunroof and no leather.

Agreed on the car wash problem. I have not had a problem with my FOB battery though (not yet anyway)....August 2017 to now still on original battery.

Toyota’s implementation is really very good. I think Ive replaced the battery in each key fob twice in eight years? Not sure exactly but certainly not often. It will lock and unlock sometimes during a car wash if the key is in your pocket, but it’s really not that big a deal once you know. My car wash shorts are pretty tight so...

I have extremely fond memories of my old blue 20th GTI.. This really pulls on the heartstrings because I'd love to have it back, but I can't do it with no sunroof. Is there a way to get a similar blue on any other GTI trim?

About half the time when I drive my car the dashboard displays an error because of kessy. I so hate kessy.

No, it's not the keyfob battery.
