How well do you find these working? I find the lane keeping assist is practically useless right now with its default settings.

      Notice the long code changes.

Anyone have any idea what I can do to fix the fault?
I had exactly same problem today after I did auto lock with the app . In my history that long coding appeared from nowhere . That's really weird . I've noticed you did auto lock too.
But I'm glad I'm not along and I found your post . First I'll try to cancel auto lock with the same app and see what happens .

Look in the log history, it should show you what the original code was before it changed.

So, it appears that OBD11 is now telling users what actual changes the APP has made to the code-string on control modules - which is a very good thing IMO because it tells the user how to undo the changes if the "restore" part of the APP doesn't work (which sometimes happens).

In the 2 x above records, the first is the change necessary for the Mirror Dip APP and the second is the mods for the Refuel quantity APP

Might look a tad odd, but as I say - a good thing really (IMO)!!

Unusual idea, I know, but I trying to find a way to code-out all the red taillights (parking lights) during Leaving/Coming Home activation. I’ve changed from Headlights to Fogs at the front and turned on the Reverse Lights during Leaving/Coming Home to get a lower-profile lighting effect as well as more white-light at the rear.

Here’s where I am stumped: to complete my “white-light” only effect, I need to code-out all the red lighting at the rear - just during the Leaving/Coming Home activation. I’m hoping someone might know which lighting channel and what command option would accomplish this. I still want the parking lights to function when switched on and when the car is running. I think it would be very nice to just have all-white, low profile lighting when the Leaving/Coming Home function is activated.

Here’s an example of one of the tail light’s coding…

      Dimming Direction CD (maximize)
      Dimming Direction EF (maximize)
      Dimming Direction GH (maximize)
      Dimmwert AB (10)
      Dimmwert CD (127)
      Dimmwert EF (0)
      Dimmwert GH (0)
      Lichtansteuerung HD AB (Always)
Lichtfunktion A (Standlicht allgemein (Schlusslicht: Positionslicht: Begrenzungslicht))
      Lichtfunktion B (not active)
      Lichtfunktion C (Brake light)
      Lichtfunktion D (not active)
      Lichtfunktion E (not active)
      Lichtfunktion F (not active)
      Lichtfunktion G (not active)
      Lichtfunktion H (not active)

      Any ideas?

      Any ideas?

TW. Hi. The leuchte-command for CH/LH is Coming Home oder Leaving Home aktiv. So what you need to do is to find which of the Lichtfunktion channels have this command and change to not active. There will be only one entry of this command in each of the Leuchte-sets for the rear lights.

So - here are the Leuchte-sets for the rear lights - look through each for the command above

Leuchte20BR LA71 Brake light, rear left (rear lights)
Leuchte21BR RC8 Brake light, rear right (rear lights)

Leuchte23SL HLC10 Parking light, rear left inside (rear lights)
Leuchte24SL HRA65 Parking light, rear right inside (rear lights)

Thank you Don, I really appreciate your help. I'll try going thru each of the command channels and look for the CH/LH command. I hope my explanation made sense, I'm just trying to get white light only (front & rear) during CH/LH but also retain normal parking light function when switched on or operating the vehicle.

Yes, I understand what you want to do- albeit I'm not sure why you want to do it!! But the latter doesn't matter because I never cease to be amazed at the diversity of personal lighting-effect preferences that appear on forums - your lighting effect ain't my cup-of-tea, but that's perfectly OK with me!

Usually, I caution that some of the more "innovative" lighting-effects might not be road legal- but in your case, I doubt that this is a problem.

Just to add to my previous reply and because I sense that you are new to Leuchte-programming, Each of the 35 x Leuchte-sets on MQB platform vehicles (like the mk7) can be configured to operate 8 x separate and independent lighting functions via the setting that applies to the Lichtfunktion channels. That done, then these light-functions operate in pairs (i.e. AB,. CD....GH): the illumination level of the pairs can be individually set (via the Dimmwert channels) as can be the way that the pairs are switched-on (via the Dimming direction channels).

So it's easy to delete one-or-more of the lighting functions without affecting the remaining functions - if you obey the Leuchte-programming rules! And even if you don't obey the rules, the error is seldom catastrophic and it's usually possible to fix the problem!

Thank you again Don, very helpful; yes I am very new to light programming.

Can you give me a brief explanation, or perhaps direct me to a tutorial link on how the lighting pairs, AB, CD, etc. work together?

I know this might sound like a dumb question and goal is unusual, but do you think it possible to select a channel, i.e., Lichtfunktion H, insert the CH/LH aktiv command and select Dimmwert GH of "0"; thus achieving my goal of turning off the Red lighting just during CH/LH, without affecting normal parking/driving light operation?

TW: nothing at all wrong being a newby - that's exactly where I was a few years back!! Of course you should try to find any VW material that you can about Leuchte- programming. I remember searching everywhere for anything from the VAG group of companies about this (then) new protocol - with no success (at all). But you might have better researching skills than me (likely you do- because my skills are woeful).

I did write a short primer on Leuchte stuff some years ago now - but it's lost in the mist of time and the web-link where I posted the document no longer works. Somewhere I have the original file, but I'm not sure where- alas.

Anyway - here's a visual of how a Leuchte-set (being 19 x adaptation channels) is structured - it shows the lamp set-up channels and the 4 x lighting groups (with each group containing a lighting-function pair and the dimmwert/direction channels). Don't take any notice of the column with parentheses numbers - these were intended for the way that the now defunct VCDS software reports Leuchte channels (VCDS now uses what Ross-Tech calls "Tags"). Hope it helps:

As for your suggestion about "Lichtfunktion H" - I'm not sure how much programming you have done in the past - but there's more than one way to program Leuchte channels. Some ways are more elegant than others! I'm not quite certain how your suggestion would work, but it seems (to me) to be tackling the "effect" of your problem, rather than its "cause" - no offense intended in my observation

      Don,

I found a very comprehensive tutorial (link below), natürlich auf deutsch; but after translating, it was very informative. Although, I do still have some questions you might be able to help with...

      https://www.motor-talk.de/blogs/tbax...-t5039426.html

      (1) Channel Pairs (Banks or Light Groups): I still don't fully understand how (or why) the light channels are paired (AB, CD, EF, GH) or how they work together?

      (2) Dimmwerte (Dimming): Given the LED value range is 0-127, what does this range actually represent in lamp brightness? Would a value of 63.5 result in 50 percent brightness or 31.75 result in one-quarter the available lamp's brightness?

      (3) Dimmrichtung (Dimming Direction): Banks or Light Groups CD, EF, GH allow for either "minimize" or "maximize" dimming direction (Dimmrichtung), but how does this actually work in practice and do with LEDs act differently?

      (4) Light Group Precedence: Is my understanding correct that the higher light group (GH being highest) over-rides coding on the lower light groups when activated? For example, Dimming Direction (Dimmrichtung) and Dimming (Dimmwerte) coding for light group (bank) "GH" will over-ride light group(s) "EF", "CD" or "AB" when activated?

Finally, I agree Don, a more elegant solution would be preferred via Lichtfunktion (Lighting Function) command options, I just haven't found one that would do what I want - and there are more than 70 options available, natürlich auf deutsch.

As always, thank you very much for the help Don.

^^^^ yes, TBAx is a very knowledgeable man (woman - not sure?).

Why don't you read my primer, "Leuchte" programming - how external lights are controlled on MQB platform vehicles (Golf Mk7) - it's in the "How-to Guides" part of my VCDS Reference Resources webpage HERE.

You might even be interested in the other guides that I wrote - if so, tell your friends, or send copious amounts of money (or both)!!!

But you have some extra in there:

Translating it, it seems there is the ability to have the interval be speed dependent? Any comment/trials with this?

hmm.... not sure how road legal the change to the 3rd brake light is in your country (might be misunderstood by the driver in the car behind) and I'm not even sure if DRL will work on this lamp - but if you want to persist, consider the mods that I'm suggesting (bold blue bits)

Thank you for the suggestions. I was really hoping you could provide some insight on the use of Dimming Direction; you've suggested coding all channels at maximize, even though Dimmwert CD is 10 - why not minimize? I read your paper on the subject "Leuchte" programming - how external lights are controlled on MQB platform vehicles (Golf Mk7)", it did not mention "minimize" even once. I'm just not understanding how Dimming Direction is used - but, I'll keep searching for an explanation.

      Thank you again,

Is there a way to code the door locks so one press of the unlock button from the remote will unlock just the driver doors, and then a second press will unlock all doors?

You should be able to do that under the cars standard settings under convinces.

Everyone says that but I haven't been able to do that. I either unlock only the driver's door with the remote no matter how many times I press it, or all the doors unlock with one touch on the remote.
