That guy has saved me THOUSANDS

Also, Erik, if you ever get the itch, many many M3 parts fit onto/into these that increase the "I like it in here"ness of them.

Yeah, but 99% of those problems were on M3s and ZHP cars that were driven hard. Same thing with the subframe ripping the floor out of the Z3--it's pretty much just the M cars and the ones driven at high lateral-Gs.

This is an 87k mile car that has clearly never seen the track, or likely snow. I'd wager it's fine.
      I unbanned Patrikman.

I also originally banned Zuk & JIMP.

      Then I got demoted.

And a lot of the cars that suffered were early builds 99-00

One of the greatest things about having these cars, and youtube, is sh*t like this:

Pretty much anything you'd need to do is there. I've waffled about selling this car, but every time I get in it I'm reminded of why I'd always miss it. Stuff like this seems daunting but people have cut these cars to high hell. It's kinda great knowing hundreds of people have attacked problems like this and brought the knowledge back down to us new guys.

      Also look into:

Fan clutch for the rad. It's cheap and easy to do. If it fails, it can take out everything under the hood.

WOW! That's quite a score. I need to make better friends with all you dealership people.

I drove out to Mountain Home to fish the Norfork yesterday and really wished I had something a little bit more fun to rip around on Highway 7. Not to mention fuel economy' every dang time I want to go fishing I end up blowing $50 on gas..

Can't wait to see this thing!

Jumping in this a bit late.

Nice looking E46, I'd buy it and I don't even need a car.

What was the noise on the 4runner? Was it a clunk when coming to a complete stop and/or a clunk when starting from a stop?

Fan clutch failure is what took out the hood on my 1997 M3 under the previous owner's care. That's why it's got these bitchin' hood scoops (their position makes them useless for anything but looks)

Since all the drift kings destoyed the cheap E36's and drove the prices up on still-crappier ones, E46's are the new fun, cheap Bimmer. I drove an E46 330i last Thanksgiving that was kitted out with an M3 subframe out back, $3k TC Kline coilovers, and a few bits here and there like a tune and intake, and it was a riot on the back roads. The owner had it for sale, asking price $5k for a well-sorted, well cared-for car. If the M3 had been totaled just a few months before, that E46 would have been in my driveway

Manual 325i models don't have a belt driven fan, only electric. Autos have an electric and a belt driven fan with a clutch.
