Can't wait for those $100m "catering" expenses from Mercedes.

To be honest, that's pretty damn close.

      https://www.autosport.com/f1/news/14...over-stag-logo
Haas Formula 1 team title sponsor Rich Energy Ltd and its CEO William Storey have lost a copyright infringement claim filed by specialist bicycle manufacturer Whyte Bikes.

The Sussex-based company took action to defend its stag logo, claimed that the Rich Energy logo was a copy of its own and was being used without authorisation.

As well as its presence on drink cans the stag logo features prominently on the 2019 Haas car, and on the helmets of Kevin Magnussen and Romain Grosjean.

The judgement in effect means that Rich Energy can no longer use the stag logo in any form.

I read an article recently that suggested the same. Nobody can figure out why they have any money. It's a mystery.

Here's one Jalopnik did. It seemed to have left a few key gaps, but nevertheless, it does provide some insight. For me, it just made me further believe that they're a front for some type of non-legal activity.

I sometimes wonder if there's a tobacco company behind them, and if in due time, we'll see Rich branded vaping products. Then again, I don't know if a tobacco company would blatantly rip off someone else's logo.

Yep, that's pretty blatant. I guess it's not like music where it's not copying if it's one note different.

It's not like that for music at all. It's quite stunning the claims that have been paid. Just ask The Verve.

So 5 races in, and barring some serious reliability or driver error issues on the part of MB, this season is over?

Man am I glad there’s so many other forms of racing to enjoy.

For Ferrari, the chassis and aero problems are just compounded by the tire issue some teams are struggling with. The Haas car (Ferrari "B" team, Ha!) is indeed quick, but here he explains what's limiting progress:

“I think we had a miserable start to the season,” Haas told Motorsport.com. “We qualified really well, so it says that we can do one or two laps quick. But then we lose tyre temperature, and when you lose tyre temperature, the cars sometimes just go away.

“It seems like it’s just luck if you get the tyre in that right temperature zone. It would be nice if Pirelli could make it so it wasn’t so sensitive to that. We’re playing games with a thermometer, not racing cars.”

      https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.mot...s/4388298/amp/

For Ferrari, Binotto says what's wrong with the car is obvious but the issue with the tires is not obvious:

"I think the entire weekend certainly emphasised it, and [the weaknesses] were straightforward and obvious. How long it will take [to solve] is difficult to answer. I think more important for us is to understand how to address them. Then I am pretty sure we can do it quickly."

Several teams have had problems making the thinner-gauge Pirelli tyres work so far in 2019, with Red Bull driver Max Verstappen going as far as saying Mercedes is the only outfit that is on top of the changed tyre specification.

Binotto said: "The tyres are difficult to manage, that is true. Tyres are a significant key performance factor of the car and so management and optimisation is key for the overall performance of the car itself.

"The tyres this year are behaving differently compared to last year. I have to say that from the Pirelli point of view they achieved their targets, the tyres are not blistering which was, certainly from the safety reason, good.

"But understanding and addressing and optimising the performance is part of our job and if I may say, certainly it is not obvious, not straightforward, not an easy task."

      https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.mot...s/4388749/amp/

What is also obvious is that Mercedes have assembled a group of people that are very, very good. Money is definitely necessary but Mercedes has cultivated a team of talented people.

Sadly, there's more excitement in that spambot post than any F1 race this season.

Yeah, I had just read that about Mazipen's time.

For there to be a fight this year it would have required Ferrari giving Red Bull it's engine and Vettel pre season. Newey and Honer would round out the championship fighting package.

Seriously, for Ferrari to get back in it would require Mercedes to crater and the odds of that happening of course are huge. I do hope that Ferrari does figure their car out soon.

I hate to say it, because they pissed off fans in their time as well, but in cases like this, the relationship between Bernie (FOM) and Mosely (FIA) paid dividends. Between the two of them, they could basically negotiate a ploy, and then Bernie would go off and make whatever deals necessary to get the key teams in line with the plan. I'm not sure Liberty has that ability, and even if they did, Todt seems to be very hands off when it comes to F1.

Not sure if it's good or bad to be calling out the plaintiff on social media, but it is a bold move Cotton. Let's see if it pays off.

So who is getting the axe @ Haas for Pietro Fittipaldi to move in? Yes I know he's just a test driver, but there are rumors.

My vote would be for Gross Jeans to go. The Haas car is good, their knuckle head drivers have left some points on the table.
