Since the Infiniti is out, this is my vote. You could also get a Mercedes ML with the off road package (low range, undercarriage protection) but I’d rather have the Jeep.

I'd buy a GX/LX right now if I didn't have to drive 70 miles a day. Just can't give up the 30mpg highway right now.

So my brother works at a BMW dealer and they have 10 LX570 that may fit the bill.

They just got it so they are going to try to make some money on it first, but if they are unable to sell it, it seems that I could get a smoking hot deal on it... Hmmm....

Grand Cherokee would get my vote as long as a dealer was nearby.

Subaru Ascent Touring would work as well.

Yup. Though a trailhawk may be a bit too expensive at this point. Depending on what exactly the OP plans on doing, it might not matter though. But this is where I'd go. Lots of options and different 4wd systems available.

Ideally, I would get at trailhawk. But they are still in the low to mid-30s with the Hemi, which I would prefer. I have looked at some Summits and Overlands that were 2014-2015. Seem like great rigs. I guess I would have to drive a GX or LX to compare.

I saw you giving the once-over to my Wrongler. You know the right answer. Get a Sahara version if you want luxury and I'll drive into the city to help you put your sorority letters on it.

Had it about 16 months now. Only major problem was the secondary air injection system failed, which is a common problem. Lexus has a warranty of 10 years or 150,000 miles so they fixed it for free. Also had to get the passenger side air bag replaced under the Takata air bag recall. Two months ago, the radiator cracked, so I replaced that but here in TX, I think the heat can get to them after awhile. I've done the spark plugs and the drive train fluids and that's been pretty much it. My wife drives it most of the time and we've only taken it off road out in the Texas hill country a couple of times. It is very comfortable and even with 115k on it, everything functions as it should. We are very pleased with it.

https://www.clublexus.com/forums/gx-...0-present-219/ Some great info here too.

If you drive them both, I'd love to know your thoughts. I conceptually had the GX on my list. As I kept seeing them, I just couldn't get into the styling. I'm sure they're great rigs though.

2019 TRD Pro or Off-Road 4Runner not luxurious enough? You could go get the limited too (has lipstick where the cigarette lighter goes)

Was thinking about it. But they are nearly 50K.

The benefit to going with one is that in 2-3 years itll still be worth north of 35. But its just too much for a car that will be dailied during the winter and not driven much in the summer.

      And, yes. Not luxurious.

I fell into that thread last night in my research. It increased the want level tenfold.

The GX is one of the most reliable vehicles you could buy. Period. Given that I own a FCA product with 90k that seemingly has new problems each day, I'm jealous of something built with a much higher level of component quality.

That said: the LX's engine is sweet and potent. I also really like the size; slightly bigger than GX, not massive like the Sequoia. My memory is that I also preferred the steering of the 08 LC I tested compared to our 10 GX. I'm super annoyed that basic tech items like blind spot monitoring didn't show up before 2016 in the LC/LX.

But if you can live without that stuff, a LX or GX without Lexus' horrid, horrid mousepad infotainment controller is a solid truck.

GX if you want something a bit smaller but I’d lean towards a LX/LC 570 if you can swing it.

I love the 4Runner TRD Pro but got that money, a used 200-Series LC is awfully compelling.

Why? Just for the extra space or something else?
