Good news if this is true. TCL user Maximum_Download was last seen shutting his head in the door of a typical CUV while screaming that Americans don't like wagons.

      https://carbuzz.com/news/exclusive-a...vant-to-the-us

We've known for a while that Audi is working on a new RS7 Sportback, which will rival the new BMW M5 and Mercedes E63 AMG. The new RS7 will boast over 600 horsepower from a 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 shared with the Porsche Panamera, though some rumors have pointed towards a hybrid drivetrain borrowed from the Panamera Turbo S E-Hybrid.

Now, an inside source at Audi has told us the next-generation RS7 will be joined by a more practical sibling, the RS6 Avant. Our source spoke to two Audi USA Executives, who confirmed that both the A6 and RS6 Avant models will be sold in the US market by 2020. If this information is accurate, our prayers for a fast Audi wagon in the US will finally be answered, hallelujah!

Both the A6 and RS6 Avants are expected to arrive next year in 2020, likely alongside the new RS7. The previous two generations of the RS6 Avant were never offered in the US market, making them tempting pieces of forbidden fruit for American car enthusiasts.

Americans buyers typically prefer SUVs to wagons, though the wagon segment enjoyed success in 2018 thanks to a flood of new models. While BMW hasn't built an M5 wagon since 2010 (in Europe only), Mercedes currently builds a wagon version of the E63 AMG for the US market. Now, the E63 could be getting get some stiff competition.

Last year, Audi said there was a slight chance of the next-generation RS6 Avant arriving in the US, though it would likely be transformed into a lifted Allroad variant with body cladding to cater to America's love of SUVs. Our source confirmed the A6 and RS6 will be true wagons, not lifted Allroad models. We also reached out to Audi USA to get official confirmation, though we were told this news was just "speculation."

We are hoping with all of our hearts for this rumor to be true. We've been waiting to have the chance to buy the RS6 Avant for years, so if you want to make sure Audi continues to sell wagons in the US, you have to go buy one new. Don't wait for one to appear on the used market because by then it will already be too late.

Good news for the 6 people on TCL who will buy one used in 5-10 years.

I’m not holding my breath. I’m actually angry at Audi for keeping this car out of the US market for so long.

So. I have heard multiple accounts. I heard, from a pretty high up source, that the A6 Allroad is "FOR SURE, LOCKED IN COMING" (i do caps and bold because thats they way the guy said it. and that is how he is as a person) But then a few weeks later, I heard that it could be off the table now. So take that for what it is. Anytime any one at the meetings would ask about RS6 there was more of a unconvincing answer. They seemed to basically say to keep dreaming. That could mean they are trying to keep it hush hush, but, based on my time with the company, I would not hold my breath.

Also, if it did come, it would lease for crap, probably more than the my R8, and I would get the same deal. But we shall see.

I hope it does come, if it does. Mark my words. It very well could be my next car. New. Not in 5-10 years used

      Whoops fixed.

I guess time will tell. I hope it is true if only for the fact that there will be more wagons on the roads.

yes we shall. I wouldnt hold my breath. based on RS7 of today, its gonna be a 125K car to start, which would put it in line with the E63 Estate. Of which, we sell a few of them a year at our store here in Chicago, and a few more per year out of Newport Beach, which is one of, if not the largest MB store in the country. So people want them, as we discussed in the rich person wagon thread.

I think this is the way to do it. If you want a wagon you gotta commit $110,000%. Cause a lot of people do beg for them and then buy 2003 WRXs.

Just my very uneducated guess but the price could be around $110,000 or so based on the current prices of Audi RS models.

      I can dream.

Edit: I guessed way low as usual.

If true, the more important part of the article is that we’re getting the regular A6 wagon again, too.

      Agreed

I would prefer a normal avant over the allroad. Fight me.

I really don't see the need for any allroad given Audi's current model selection.

I wrote that before I saw your post :p

I probably would prefer a standard as well. The higher suspension still probably wouldn’t be enough for the canyon.

If they do come, I’ll have to make a tough decision about my rental.

Im still not holding my breath about any of this at this point.

Bring the A7 with R, S, RS or whatever the fast letters are. Bring the A6 avant and fast letter versions to the US.

Leave the sedan versions in Europe. No one wants them here.

Thats already happening with the 7, 6 is more up in the air. The 6 is a beautiful sedan, but it does not lease well. Which is, to me, the core component in the luxury midsize game.

Not sure I would ever buy one, but I love the idea that it could be available on our shores. One of the few Audis I'd buy if i was in the market for something like this.
