Well the only 911 I'd want is a manual GT3 and those are tough to get...

So it probably will be an RS6, which should be available to order for anyone who wants one.

Honestly I'd be just as happy with an RS6. My wagon fetishism is pretty huge. More so than my sports car + manual fetish.

      Great, I’d love to get one....but I’m on a C5 S6 avant budget
More wagons the better, I’m sure the bass A6 avant would be plenty nice...but I’m sure that’s some $$ too.

Maybe once my money pit/first love 914 is done....and I repaint the 356...and probably find something else to procrastinate with

Re: RS6 avant or 911 - I’d say most in the RS6 market already have some flavor of Porsche.

Scott Keogh wrote the check last year... someone has to cash it

If Audi does bring RS6 Avant, it will be really interesting to see if the Audi faithfuls will show up with their Amex Platinum card...

Mercedes sells just under 100 E63S wagon every year in the US and it's been like that forever. I can't imagine Audi getting that many buyer for RS6 Avant every year. They may be better off working on getting the RS4 Avant here instead. The lower price point of RS4 will work better with Audi buyers that are not in the E63S price range.

so looks like Smooremin will be selling 75% of the first years US Rs6 allotment if this happens

I'd really like to put my money where my mouth is on this one... Even a non-allroad A6 avant would have me re-evaluating my garage.

Total running costs would probably be similar.

RS4 is cheaper than RS5. So yeah it could totally work.

As much as I am enthralled by the RS6 avant coming here, the real good news is that the standard Avant is coming as well.

While I will probably never be able to afford a RS6 I could one day swing a regular A6, or S6. They lease pretty well.

If I were shopping in this segment, the E63 AMG would get my dollars.

I'll swing it if audi doesn't go and overcook the price the the point of absurdity. I'd rather buy a new airplane than another car. the airplane will resale just peachy in 50 years.

Same here. Just need a salary bump. And I'd have to trade the R.

There are those of us who would have bought it. Mercedes has been showing the small market viability of a luxo wagon with the E63 AMG for years, and it’s been loved by the few who appreciated it.

There’s the SRT, Acura, other Audi’s, Volvo and even Jaguar...they’ve all shown there’s interest. Enthusiasts have begged for it for years, and they’ve left us wanting.

I moved on from my 2005 Subaru WRX wagon, to my current 2012 Cadillac CTS-V wagon. Unless this avant comes with a manual transmission I’m gonna keep my V and buy a 911.

To continue this, look how much coverage on the YouTube car channels that MB got just by giving the E63 AMG Estate press car out. All the big car YouTubers drove it, posted great footage, long videos with lots of praise. Then it was discussed over and over again on forums and other social media. For all intents and purposes - the E63 AMG Estate was Mercedes Benz' 2018 halo car. Even if each unit just broke even or was sold at a loss, having that much MB coverage to promote their brand was probably worth it. If Audi can swing an RS6 Avant on an all new platform and catch the E63 mid-cycle, combined with huge pent up media demand of all of us car nerds who would watch Doug and The Straight Pipes and Matt Farah etc. flog one of these, it'd be great brand visibility for Audi overall.

The C8 A6 Avant is one of the best looking cars on the road, I was drooling all over them when I was in Europe last year. Too bad there's no way I can afford an RS6.

The number is probably accurate, and is a good reminder of why we shouldn't let enthusiasts determine the product matrix.

If MB is selling 100 annually, Audi would be lucky to sell 50-75 per year.

Not sure. The Audi has a lot of "forbidden fruit" desire amongst enthusiasts, a bunch of which can afford the car. So I think it would actually outsell the Merc. As great as the Merc drives and sounds, Audi just nails the menacing fast wagon appearance like nobody else can. That said, I'll believe the car is coming when I actually see it at a dealership. Audi sucks at giving us wagons.
