But really no, saying its the same cabin is a gross overstatement. The BMW switchgear and hardpoints are readily on display though.

I guess we'll see if this engine can do the 1000 HP he wants. Although the 8-speed idk if it can handle it.
I know tuner's gonna tune and this is probably going on some insane high level car build. But really if this motor can handle 500ish hp without going crazy, I'd be very satisfied.

Actually I don't see similarities at all. Maybe the button cluster to the left of the wheel same, but every button, vent, shape and layout are different. If I didn't know it's sourced by BMW I'd never guess. They're just completely different interiors.

All I wish they did was a Toyota specific font on all the switchgear and a non BMW shift knob. That's it!

Yeah, I was watching top gear and Harris was going on about how it was the same dash/wheel/etc, but I don't really see it myself. Different enough for me.

Supra uses previous gen switch gear while Z4 hardware is from current lineup.

Of course you do know that there would still be arguments about the font and whether it was the right one or not, right?

Anybody know what the power limitations of the transmission are? Or the diff, axles, etc?
not sure how different the auto-trans are compared to the e90/N54 but on the e90 the stock autos would start slipping around 450lb/ft but after flashing it would be good up to about the 650 range. Manuals seemed to be fine until about the same 450lb/ft range and then the clutch would start slipping. The good thing is the 335is/550i both had heavy duty versions that are a direct replacement and they seem to maintain stock feel and are holding up on cars in the 750 hp range.

But does the Supra have Carplay and does it require a yearly subscription?

Apparently BMW does still charge for Carplay on the Supra, but Toyota covers the first 4 years. No word on pricing beyond the 4 year mark but I would assume it's whatever BMW charges for BMW-badged vehicles too unless Toyota decides to extend the Carplay payments further as a goodwill measure.

I had read previously that it was introduced with the revised B58.

B58B30M0 - original and not integrated (most pre-2019 BMW)
B58B30M1 - revised mid power level with integrated exhaust manifold (Supra)
B58B30O1 - revised high power level and not integrated (Z4)

      Here is the article.

Of course, the BMW B58 TÜ1 outperforms its predecessor in terms of performance. Initially, two power levels are planned, called ML (middle power level) and OL (upper power level). In the ML comes the B58 TÜ1 with 250 kW (340 hp) and 450 to 500 Newton meters of torque, the OL has 275 to 285 kW (374 to 388 hp) and 500 Newton meters of torque. Of course, the new M-engine S58 will adopt some ideas of the B58 TÜ1 development in an adapted form.

In the middle performance level, a new cylinder head with integrated manifold is used. This sophisticated solution brings various advantages in terms of thermal management and, among other things, allows a more efficient distribution of heat to relevant points. The exhaust gas turbocharger of the middle power level has been adapted to the new position of the manifold, which in addition to the cost benefits also brings a weight saving of 2 kilograms. The upper power level uses a turbocharger with integrated manifold, which has also been further refined.

Saw my first (new) Supra in the flesh. Not a big car. I wonder how much markup was paid.

I have to be honest, I was very impressed with how well the Cayman did.

I put my headphones on and was prepared to console myself that it didn't matter because of handling. Ironically the only car it lost to was the lightweight handler!

I went to see it at a dealer, the car is very small!

I wish it wasnt $50k. If this was a solid $35k, it'd be an amazing buy.

You can get a well equipped Mustang or Camaro around $40k, maybe a few thousand less for a year-end leftover or something. Not a whole lot else can deliver that level of performance anywhere near $35k.

Wait a couple of years and get a CPO for that. It will be the deal of the century even at $40K.

I honestly really like this car a lot.

Exactly what I was thinking, CPO would be the best buy unless you can find a sub $50k one that has been sitting in the dealer lot for some time.

I like this car a lot too. I saw it in person at a dealer was in love. Does not look like a Toyota at all. Very European, which of course it is. I doubt Toyota could have done better than what BMW did for them.
